Hikmicro Alpex not picking up IR

Anybody had any issues with their scope not picking up the IR output?

About 2 weeks ago my Alpex decided it didnt like the IR and the image for obvious reasons wasnt good.

Initial thought was an issue with the IR which is a Ward Dark Engine Blade . Tried the IR with my Zulu and no issue so tried a NM 800 and NM 400 with the zulu and all worked fine. Went back to the Alpex and no joy.

I factory reset the unit and still had the issue, cycled through night modes and automatic mode and still had the issue. Sent back to Elite Optics and they tested it and apparently all was fine...had it back and same issue.....Image during the day is spot on both in day and night mode, I also make sure I select the correct shutter setiing for day and night.

Im going to check it again tonight and maybe leave the unit of for a bit before I see what its doing.

Anyone experienced this and what was the outcome?

Any thoughts are welcome

Thats weird eh Mike? Did Elite optics not offer any suggestions, did they say what iluminator they used? Is it whiting out?

I was going to suggest manually selecting night mode rather than auto as sometimes mine can be slow to change over... but seems you've tried that!

Well that was really worth posting Tim. I put you on ignore for a reason so maybe dont post unless you have something worthwhile to say...which is very unlikely.
You sound like 75 he posted (right you are going on the ignore list) next day he popped in with a comment lol

As I said you have no will power

Elite said they tested it with a new Hik IR and also tested it at distance and it was fine.... I appreciate I may be thick but I know my way around the scope :)

Im picking up a 4th IR from the shop I bought the scope from tonight so will see if that helps...will also leave the scope on for 5 mins before i try it.

The issue is the opposite of white out...you can see the IR beam when you turn it on but its really faint...and the battery is fully charged

Agreed and tried every mode about 5 times before I did a factory reset (and lost all my saved parameters).

Elite said it may be an intermittent fault but its frustrating. It worked perfectly up until it didnt and there is nothing that has changed.

Can you take scope with you to shop? Two heads & all that

The irony is that I was in Devon last week (Elite are in Exeter) ....

Ran through the menu at my local shop but the issue is that the long days mean it would be difficult for them to view it with IR after dark.

I ll try again tonight and if it doesnt behave its going back to Elite...even if I have to go back to Devon so I can witness it for myself if there is nothing wrong :) 👍

Proper glass doesn’t have an issue with an IR

Mine has done this a few times but only on initial switch on of IR ...

I just press the switch on the IR again and it works fine after that , I just thought it was a dodgy on switch .

Maybe just bin that torch.

I've tried it with 3 IR torches that all light up the world when I checked with the Zulu so dont think its the torch. I ll try with the 3 of mine and the PBIR from the gun shop and see what happens....weird 👍

Sorry can't help with issue but when testing it tonight if it isn't working then record it on scope. You can then show it to elite. Least that way you have proof it isn't working if they say there isn't a problem
Thats a good suggestion 👍

Im glad I download all the images I want to save...as the reset cleared everything :(
