HIKMICRO FQ35

I have a Hikmicro FQ35 thermal and I recently updated its software . To my surprise when it had completed the update I found that its base magnification was 1.8 and thereafter multiples thereof . The original magnification was 1.0 and multiples thereof with the 1.0 ideal for scanning.
Has anyone else had this happen ?
The unit is great but not sure if the upgrade has really improved it.

The base mag is optical and therefore a hardware thing that wouldn’t have been changed by the software upgrade. I think you will find that HIK have just changed the way they display the base mag. Previously the 1x would have been in fact 1.8x and 2x would have been 3.6x.

If I understand correctly from what you are saying the actual images were always 1.8 inspite of being sold and indicated on the unit as 1.0. The only other thing could be that the previous software amended the image down to 1.0 for the thermal display.
Haven’t used it since the update but hope it is as was or better.

Updated mine found it just as good you will notice the battery indicator is different as well

Haven’t used it since the update but hope it is as was or better.

I think you will find the units spec sheets have always given the base optical mag as 1.8 and HIK have just removed some of the software confusion.

Check the bit on the specs where it says:
Magnification (optical) x1.8
Magnification (digital) 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x
The optical magnification has always been x1.8, but before the latest firmware update only the level of digital magnification was shown on the display (lots of other HIK thermals with the older style of firmware do this)
After the update to the newer style firmware. the total magnification is shown
i.e. x1.8, x3.6, x7.2, x14.4

Same thing with my FH35, base mag now shows as 3x rather than the previous 1x. Seems to be the correct designations now, and the image looks the same.

Hi,

I too have a FH35 and my base magnification now shows 3x, though my image is noticeably closer and the menu has changed.
Has anyone else experienced this ?
