Hikmicro Gryphon Vs Falcon

Hi all. I am torn between these two thermal monoculars in the 25mm variety (FH25 and GH25). I understand that the falcon is better because it has a focus ring I believe and also the netd is 20 rather than 35. I can get v good condition used versions of these, but want to know if the Falcon is worth an extra £220ish more than the Gryphon? I only intend to use it to detect deer mostly in woodland. Does anyone have any practical experience of these monoculars?

can only comment on gryphon in 50 lrf version ... mine has focus ring on front and i really like having lrf on spotter
its heavy on its single 18650 battery but ease of carrying couple spares and changing means not a real issue ..

sorry bit of useless post as i have no experience with falcon to compare ...

if can get hads on with them both ...not often possible granted ... and see which prefer sight pic of and also ergonomics plays a part / what you prefer

Thanks Paul - all info greatly appreciated (especially as I kind of had the impression there were perhaps not that many fans of the Gryphon).

I have the FH35, and I reckon the 25 will be better for your needs as it'll give you a wider field of view. When I bought mine new I was looking at the Gryphon too, and was advised to go for the FH as it was a better unit. That was from a chap called James who was Optics Warehoses N/V and thermal speciallist. Hope this helps ?.

Having owned a Condor CQ35L (same image processor as the Falcon), I compared it to a mates Gryphon.

The Gryphon was a poorer image, and there was a noticeable lag when scanning around - i.e. you move the unit then it takes the display a moment to catch up. Never felt that with the Condor at all.

Interesting, my GQ35 is in regular use & I've never noticed lag unless it refreshes. As for the image I've never had the opportunity to compare with the Condor or Falcon but found it excellent & a big step up from my old Helion XQ50
