Looking for a farm/stalking vehicle and decided on Hilux sub £15k. Been reading lots in the forums regarding the bad years and recalls. Any tips to make sure I don’t buy a dud?
Either find one that's genuinely been coated since new/near new, or find someone selling one that's in or been in fir a new chassis ?
It's a case of caveat emptor, get underneath and have a really good look and poke around as much of the chassis as possible.
I think there is a free online checker thing to see if it's been in for a recall to check and under seal the chassis. My dad's and my brothers 2 all need to go in. And my cousins one has been in with Toyota for nearly 12months having a new chassis fitted.
The Hilux chassis program is not a recall it’s a customer satisfaction program. It applies to Hilux’s that are less than 12 years from first registration and owned for more than 6 months. The backlog for replacements is 12 months plus atm but they do a really good job. If yours doesn’t merit a replacement then they will clean and treat your chassis.
