Hot barrels and wandering zero?

Do you use a mod? Does it have a dust cap fitted?

As hunters we all shoot with cold barrels so you'll just have to let your barrel cool between shots to get a true reading of accuracy

Yes wildcat mod. No dustcap.

Won’t be that then. Mine was turned to close a tolerance so that as the barrel heated and expanded the POI would change.

Hornady american whitetail .270 130gr. First shot to the left of the bull. Pulled it.

Second shot. Pretty much Bang on. happy with the shot.


Third. Low. Hit on neck by hot brass from Ar15 .22 clone. Grrr

Second target (widest group) ppu 150g cheap ammo. Flinched at / Snatched a couple of the shots.

third target sako (closest group) powerhead 2 110g. Two great shots and one pulled.

discs are 6” shot at 100m. Got an experienced shooter at the range to shoot it and he put it through the bull. He reckoned my 8x scope wasn’t helping.

In short: I don’t think there’s anything wrong with my rifle.

Thanks to all for the advice. Got confidence back in the rifle. Shot 9 rounds in 1 hour. Letting barrels cool well in between threes.

And give it a good clean!!..... chances are secondhand and being a .270 it won't of been cleaned properly....
