Hot Drink

With icy gales and impassable roads in the mountainous East Anglian highlands (we had a whole inch of snow last night), one’s thoughts do turn to hot drinks particularly in the high seat.

What do most people carry in their Stanley/Thermos/etc flasks?

Mine’s a tea (sometimes masala/spiced) , occasionally some clear broth (beef broth mixed with a dry sherry)

The reason I ask is this: most supermarket broths/soups etc are very high in sodium. This issue will not the effect the vast majority of stalkers who are uniformly of Commando-like fitness but there may be some constructed from more human protoplasm.

Discussions about the merits of various flasks may be better suited to the other thread circulating; this one is about contents.

As above only hot water in the flask then you can please yourself what you drink - coffee, tea, cupasoup etc. My preference on a cold day is Bovril.

Only hot water in mine as well and will take what i need with me which is generally coffee as i drink it black so dont need to take milk.

Coffee in a small game pocket sized flask with sugar if it's really cold. Make sure you add hot milk and it will keep hotter for longer. If I'm going to be out longer than one brew Ill take the Kelly Kettle in a satchel

I never take a flask into the high seat but what I do enjoy is sitting on the tailgate of the car after stalking with a cup of coffee and sharing a stalking biscuit or two with the dog.
Belvita makes/made a breakfast biscuit called Forest Fruit, that's what we always refer to as stalking biscuits in our house. Whenever I've shared them with shooting buddies they've always commented on how nice they are, and my dog certainly agrees. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get them for some time. I'm wondering if they have been discontinued. If I come across them again I will buy a very large box of these biscuits and hide them away just for shooting days and other special occasions.

I have a little Sig flask I picked up in the US. It only takes about a coke can sized amount of fluid, but by God does it keep stuff hot! Just about fits a jacket pocket. Only problem is it doesn’t come with a cup! It’s a funny little thing - but it works. Always found hot chocolate mixed with a shot of real coffee to be best when in the seat.

Black filter coffee in a 300ml Lifeventure flask/thermal mug...don't like stewed milk...stronger than normal so only a sip now and then to maintain the caffein buzz without the concomitant need to pee. Same pee frequency reduction strategy used when beating, devised when working on site in public and can't leave tools out each time you need to go find a loo.

Lifeventure flask in pocket topped up from 1litre flask in wagon.

Either a oxo cube in a flask of hot water (dads version of beef tea) or tomato soup. So warming after 3 or 4 hours freezing my tatas off .
