how best to find load data

243 fallow, I have no problem buying a manual and will do so but if it doesn't answer my original question, and I don't think it will, then I am no better off for this particular query. I will probably learn some new thing but not get the answer to my original question.

Im just as much a novice as you but looking at pictures of the 2 bullets the Barnes have 3 groves I think they are called canulares to the lapuas 1 this would surely change the friction with the barrel meaning the bullets will behave differently I would guess it's like comparing a 160 grain to a 180 grain But this is just a guess do not use this as advice
I'd like to know how the experts work out load data
Regards Jake

If the bullet manufacturer does not list the powder you wish to use and the powder manufacturer does not list the bullet you wish to use, then perhaps you might try a different combination?

Presumably the bullet choice is your starting point. Buy some powder that the bullet manufacturer recommends for it and publishes the data...

As I said earlier, you may be lucky and the manufacturers have appropriate data for your preferred combination as yet unpublished if you email them.

10:1 a reloading manual won't go into the vagaries of monometal bullet pressure curves

they are good but you are skipping from learning the highway code to driving a bike engined track car with a tricky clutch!!

personally I always go with powder manufacturer data and use it as a guide
