How much are Highland game paying

That isn't a new thing. They have been importing NZ Venison for a long time. They have also been advising other AGHEs to drop their prices paid to the stalker. Thankfully the AGHE in question didn't!!
Both par for the course for many years I'm afraid, and not just them, some would say the UK venison market consists of an unhealthy duopoly..

Seems they’re also importing their venison from NZ now due to lack of Scottish red venison
This has been well
Documented, we are in part to blame , IN PART before the pitchforks come out.

We drown him in stags for 6-8 mental weeks of the year (red-sika rut)
Top quality rutted out stags….

He gets very little summer stags of good quality at all.

So he has to get his deer somewhere.

I get that shooting stags in the rut is sporting fun and easy to sell to clients but that’s where it ends in meat quality terms.

Mine wasn't a dig at Highland Game but just a lament that the situation has got to that level.

The above makes the point very well!

I’d have been at the front of a very long and broad queue to slate him at one stage…

Until a trusted and close friend did some work with him at his place in Dundee and told me first hand the carcass quality he personally saw and couldn’t believe.

Shot placement , green, general cleanliness.
All lacking
