In the manufacturer’s blurb did it mention “ Ease of maintenance “ on any of the pages, if so drop them a note questioning thatThanks to my shooting buddy Adrian for showing me this method before I destroyed mod by using my DIY skills!
Drilled holes same size as mod. Saw cut allowed vice or bolt to compress wood onto mod. Top piece of wood acts as a lever.

Don’t feel bad. Quite a few gunsmiths have been kept nicely busy by Forestry Commission Rangers who never saw need to remove a moderator. To be honest I've only just realised I should have cleaned it more regularly. Well to be perfectly honest, I've never cleaned it! I've had it over 10 years. Gave it a regular squirt of WD40 though. My mistake.
Or ones who use their rifles far more than average man and therefore have their mods fitted to their rifles a lot more than is normal. I think that they know that mods need removing when the rifle is not in use, don't you?Don’t feel bad. Oh they probably know. But do they do it?Or ones who use their rifles far more than average man and therefore have their mods fitted to their rifles a lot more than is normal. I think that they know that mods need removing when the rifle is not in use, don't you?
I have a moderator with a series of baffles which unscrew quite easily. The first few years I had it I took it all apart and cleaned it thoroughly regularly after shooting, especially after a string of shots, zeroing etc. I noticed some erosion on the end baffle around the hole (through which the bullet passes) around year two. The cause of this erosion was never confirmed. When I called the dealer and explained he told me I shouldn’t ever take it apart to clean it. The end baffle was replaced and since that day about three years ago I’ve not once taken it apart or cleaned it. No further sign of erosion (possibly no link to the previous cleaning regime anyway). But what I am quite certain of is that the moderator does a better job of reducing the sound of a shot since I stopped cleaning it. The dealer had mentioned this would be the case and although it’s a tricky thing to actually quantify I am sure it’s true. Either that or I’m slowly going deaf!To be honest I've only just realised I should have cleaned it more regularly. Well to be perfectly honest, I've never cleaned it! I've had it over 10 years. No doubt things have moved on since the late 90’s. That’s when I first visited Callum Ferguson’s workshop and noted the good number of FCS rifles in for ‘servicing’.Or ones who use their rifles far more than average man and therefore have their mods fitted to their rifles a lot more than is normal. DPT UK Europe Ltd - Ultralight CentreFire and Rimfire Rifle Supressors<snip> Just tried to Google dpt and got this…..
The erosion was clearly visible around the hole without taking the mid apart. It’s absolutely fine now three years since getting the end baffle replaced.Just wondering….if you’ve not once taken it apart in 3 years, how can you say there’s no further sign of erosion?
Cheers, Ken.
PS. I recently bought a dpt mod. and I’m pretty sure (Can’t check now) it’s says in instructions which particular sections can be unscrewed for maintenance.

A couple of drops of Loctite 243 might help. The SAK mods on my rimfires come apart every time I unscrew them from the rifle. It's a PITA.
You are not alone ! Please share with us if you manage to get it apart. Mine locked up after 6 shots.I have a small F&D one that’s stuck but the design means there is nothing to grip at the base as it tapers away. So I cut a small slot on the base to put a tool in but that didn’t work either!!!!
