Weatherby is meant to be a slightly premium howa but pretty much

The Vanguards are not. They are literally the same barreled action. Literally. Same fit . Same finish.
The other Weatherby actions are in another level above the Howa, but the Vanguards are not. Hence why Howa actions used to be the best kept secret out there. I used to be able to get them (barreled) new for $350-$500 from LSI, depending on whether it was a HB or sporter configuration. Then the internet happened, and people started talking.

I have two Remmy 700s.
One came pre-loved in the sainted triple deuce about 25 years ago, since then many thousands of rounds have been put through it without incident except on one occasion when I foolishly put it in the back of the Jimny with the floor plate lying wide open - leverage and bouncing down a track resulted in it snapping but the good folk on SD came to my aid and all was soon well.
The second came new and is in .308; again it has had a lot of use both on regular range days and at Perthshire deer. It has never failed to cycle and is far more accurate with my homeloads (never fired factory) than I could ever be.
Some time ago I bought two identical Boyd’s stocks and matched the trigger pull on each - now known in the family as “the twins”.
Sooo, speaking as I have found I love them both and would buy another one tomorrow without hesitation (Lady FB permitting of course)….

No it won’t, you could get a new howa for less than a rebarrel and a second hand for a lot less

This is what I did too. CF2? I’ve just spent a while fettling so have plenty of research on all sorts of you need it. Some from folk on here. Particularly trigger adjustment and extractor spring replacement!!

I'd go with Howa personally as I can only offer my exp, I have a Howa 1500 sporter barrel in 204 ruger with the lightning II stock very nice handling rifle
Nice bolt, 3 position safety, easily magazine converted, feeds well from floorplate or magazine, very good trigger.
Plenty of stock options GRS Bifrost, Beserk. Bell & Carlson etc for the 1500.
I have handled a couple of rem 700's in some RFD's, if you like to modify it to suit yourself its the more customisable rifle.
Go in your nearest rfd that has both to get a feel for them see what you prefer

Yeah cf2 I now have 2 in the cabinet one in .22-250 the other .270

It has a better stock than a Howa.
Plenty of aftermarket stocks etc.
Whatever the difference, even minor these will be Weatherby specifications.

The only trouble with my .270 one is it's not moderated! That's the next job for it! the .22-250 is moderated an I had that massive silver mod included in the sale it's an no visible make sadly but I think it's a mae. Will zero it tomorrow

I took the 270 in to be threaded but the shop owner talked me out of it. I’ve other threaded rifles for that job! Pleased I didn’t!
And now got an old school pecar for it, the whole rig looks like the laird just bought it for his stalker fifty years ago.

it's moved from my old .22-250 onto the .270 cf2 and now the .22-250 cf2 has an infiray night vision on itSimilar threads
