Just looking for a 243 for a bit of stalking and foxing. I’d thought about a Tikka T3 with a GRS stock. My mates got a Howa with bell and Carlson stock and he loves it
I have a Howa 1500 in .308 and replaced the Hogue stock with a GRS Nordic Wolf - left hand grip, right hand inlet. Works a treat, so maybe worth considering as an option.
Thanks Mark. That’s worth a look. I can recycle the bolt right handed no problem it’s just on normal stocks it catches the top of my thumb. Muscle memory and all that
Howa’s like many things Japanese work well but you can never love em, you get used to them. As lefty if a manufacturer can’t be bothered with me I can be bothered with them
I'm a leftie and my .22rf and my 6.5 tikka t3x are right handed and I find that I can watch the round into the chamber, so no empty chamber click! oh sh*" moments, only my BSA S10 is a leftie, but you can't see it into the port anyway
Plenty of good left hand rifles out there. You won’t have as much choice as right handers- certainly not in calibres etc, but 223, 243, 6.5 Creedmoor, 270, 308 and 30-06 are all well represented and at all price points.
Howas are good, but so are Remingtons, Tikka T3x etc
