Howa sloppy bolt

If you watch franz’ videos he himself has said one of the factors is a smooth, slick bolt. He has been associated with a few different brands and all have been know to have “slick” bolts or straight pull as well.

my point on the Camry is - all of the rifles I mentioned could be known as good enough workhorses with very little in the way of flair or standout properties, but I get what you mean about the metaphor of the how’s being Japanese, accurate enough, reliable and affordable, but my point being most of the rifles mentioned tick exactly the same box.

having owned a Howa the bolt slop when it’s at full travel can mean that there is a catch point or a point of higher resistance. Not a huge deal but it’s there and it’s not something you usually find on a mannlicher, Krag, Sauer, Merkel.

I am sure if you pay a gunsmith the difference in price between the Howa and the brands mentioned, he could make that catch point disappear, and buy you a slap up meal at Mrs Miggins Pie shop as well

You wouldn’t have much of the howa left by the time he fixed that...😂😂

As silly as spending the money trying to get a howa up to mannlicher standards?
nope, but at least as silly as trying to bring a rich aristocrat who makes videos into the conversation about a budget rifle as some sort of proof that the budget rifle isn't a match for an expensive rifle in feel of operation (as if anyone actually thought it might be  )

True, no one buys a Howa expecting it to be as refined as a rifle 4X the price!

Is it the fact the guy’s a rich aristocrat that bugs you? Or that he doesn’t use a howa?😂

Aesthetics, materials, finish, product support.

I am well aware some rifles are workhorses...I’ve owned a howa, but some aren’t just work horses and can do everything a workhorse can and more.

Id rather dink a cheap rifle than something my mrs would kill me for buying 😂
What more does it do? Make a brew?

Not everyone wants just a workhorse though. I can understand those that do however, i also think you can buy a higher quality rifle that can also be a workhorse with a synthetic stock, coated action/barrel, smooth bolt, silent safety etc and will still be accurate, aesthetically pleasing, hard wearing and probably last a lifetime.

Aesthetically pleasing with a synthetic stock? That sounds like a contradiction in terms if ever there was :stir::rofl:

I would agree in some respects however, a merkel helix, RPA woodland stalker, Sauer 202 or Blaser R8 are all good looking rifles with quality feeling synthetic stocks.

I agree that a tiger stripped heavy grain piece of timber is hard to beat for looks though, but in reality some people don’t mind treating a wood stock roughly and they are plenty strong....and a synthetic gets just as scratched up in some cases.

just pointing out the assinine nature of your comparison
Asinine? I don’t think so. It was simply a demonstration of someone who actually states a smooth bolt helps his shooting - and he happens to be a renowned shot with a rifle. But whatever floats your boat buddy.
