Hubert and I were both members of the Saint Hubert Club for many years, he could outshoot all of them on range days and out talk any of them on any subject about deer, rifles, or reloading. As a novice he helped me tremendously learn about all issues of deer, and got me into reloading as well. We would be the last ones to bed, and the first ones up, ready for him to take on the know-alls over breakfast. I shared wonderful nights before the large open fireplace in the evenings with Hubert, and other like minded souls he took under his wing. You would never beat him in a shooting contest from a rest, and I never saw him lose, only equaled offhand. A telephone call would last for ages, and I bought all his spent brass and box's from him last winter. He really was a guru for those who wanted to listen and learn about deer, and a feisty opponent if he felt you were incorrect, or worse still questioned his opinion. I learnt a lot from you Hubert, and have followed your thoughts and advice for many years. deerwarden
