Hello to anyone reading this. It's been a while since I posted on here although I drop in quite frequently.
The last few years of my life have seen some huge changes, one of them finding me spending a considerable amount of time in Georgia. I've met some great people and have seen a tiny bit of the countryside which has been great. I've had the pleasure of meeting a guy who has subsequently trusted me enough to take a trip to Africa to celebrate his retirement. He came to my home in the UK, spent a few days with me including some hunting before our time in SA. We had a great time and it was a pleasure to watch him soak up all that Africa offered. Another week with me on the way back to see some sights and do some more hunting made a great end to our time.
Brian has been very generous to me while I'm in the US and we've been clay shooting, used some of his large rifle collection at a friend's property and even allowed me to bring my boy along to get his first chance to use a rifle. A true friendship has been born.
My hope for this thread is that maybe there is someone out there who would like meet up with a fellow hunter share some stories, enjoy showing me their countryside, and generally open my eyes to what's around in the world of hunting. I live near Augusta when here and spend almost all my time with my family since we're apart for months at a time, but I miss and need to get out in the woods from time to time. If anyone has some time who feels they may enjoy sharing experiences and stories I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Never been! But I do know when I almost turned pro golfer many years ago, my biggest dream was to play on Augusta National Golf Club, esp, Amen Corner, oh my!

I had two very good friends who lived in Atlanta. Both came to Africa with me in 1998, and following years with their extended families. I stayed in their homes several times. One gave me two rifles, including a brand new MK4 no2 Lee Enfield, still in the grease. We holidayed with one of them several times, and I took his son for his first Red Stag in Scotland.
I became very good friends with one, who sadly passed away some years back. A true southern gentleman, who was a joy to be with. We had a number of adventures together in the highlands of Scotland and in Africa. I still have a head of a Cape Buffalo in silver in the cockpit of my truck which he purchased for me in Victoria Falls. It always reminds me of him. The other friend was a retired surgeon and is still around but too elderly now, but from time to time we correspond.

I also lost another good friend who lived in San Francisco. I have been there several times, and also stayed at his home in the city and his holiday home in the Sierra Nevada's several times.
Great memories and I am grateful for having them as friends.

Thanks for sharing your stories. I'm glad this little post brought their memories back to you. Isn't hunting such a wonderful way to meet people. There are so many similarities between us fellow hunters yet from such diverse cultures and life experiences. The people here in GA have shown true to their reputation of being very warm and hospitable, I enjoy meeting them alot. Hopefully I'll get to see more of the country as time goes by as so far I've not had the time. A great drive to Virginia a couple weeks back was very nice, some great looking deer country. I saw a group on the intersection just up the road from where we stayed. All that country, yet they found their refuge in a small patch of trees between two roads.

Well i have my interview at the US Embassy on friday so i am really REALLY hoping i will be in GA early next year.
Il would like to meet some like minded friends there and ….. GO DAWGS!

I loved Georgia when I was there! I spent a deal of time in Nashville, and absolutely loved the place. The people were amazingly friendly, the food was superb, the hunting was incredible, and I absolutely loved the small-town America feel.

Got any stories of the hunting you did?
Did you get to run any hounds, go duck shooting or find any white tail?
Maybe an allivator hunt, that would be a very different experience.
