Icotec 350 Best Call

Hi All,

Following the comments on David N's thread about electronic callers I've ordered one of these for much the same reason as David described, i.e. I want to call an unseen fox into an area that will give me a safe shot.

Looking at the blurb on the website it looks like there are of lots of calls but I'm not sure all of them will be a great deal of use for a fox in Dorset.

Can anyone who uses one of these recommend a particular call that works well or point me towards a download of one that does.

Mine is a couple of years old now but may st of the falls on it are North American based. I use the vole/mouse one and the rabbit They are a good bit of well made kit with good range and easy handset. For ease just save the two or three calls you are going to use as favourites on the handset or by accident you will play a Moose mating call which may not attract Charlie

Have you bought it yet? When I got mine I emailed the guys at Best Fox Call and they loaded UK calls onto the memory card for me before sending it out

I use the FoxPro and Jack.

I have over 300 calls from a mouse fart to a hefalump bark.

I use about 5 calls and 3 others with the Jack, so you are right there's not that much that you do need.

The nice thing about icotech is that they use MP3 if I recall correctly so getting calls is not difficult and they are easy to up load. There is no one call that does all as different times of year will have different calls and what works one night will not the next.
as a basic.
fox on heat, mating call, dog fox barking.
mouse, Vole, rat, rabbit calls

i have a few somewhere so if your stuck give me a shout and I will email you some over.

usually I use 2 or 3 calls, the rest I never use.

Thanks for the comments, Nun Hunter, yes ordered it from Best Fox Call last night but didn't think to ask about getting UK calls loaded. Hopefully they'll do it automatically, I'll find out in a day or two I suppose.

Is there any point in putting any bait close to the caller just to make sure Charlie stays put for a few seconds rather than just tripping over the caller and doing one? I was thinking of nicking a pouch of the cat's food and treading it into the grass close by.

Yes, that can work really well, especially if you're new to the 'game' of using NV and think you might need a few extra seconds to make a good shot. The trick is to place the bait on the side the fox is mostly likely to approach from - which is usually (but not always) from downwind, so that it encounters the scent trail as it comes in. In my experience, they usually pause at the point when they get the first good smell (so don't make it too far out - about 75 - 100 yards is ideal) - if you're ready and waiting when they do so, you'll have a chance of a good aim point.

if you take your sd card out your GC350 (or another sd card if you didn't want to lose the American calls) you can send it to Rob at best fox call with a SAE and he will upload some calls free of charge for you. very good service from them

in regards to the existing calls though I have had very good success with raccoon distress

Easy enough to load calls onto a SD card. Some of the US calls are a bit strange but so are foxs. I do remember being out with Paddy one night and we had a fox come it to the weirdest of calls, it turned out to be Red Squirrel distress call. As if a fox would have heard such a call at night. Sometimes the weirdest of of calls work.

I've got loads of calls for my 350, got them loaded by Best Fox Call at the Shooting show a few years ago.
