ID these 22lr?

Can anyone ID these for me? Headstamp is an 'R' in a shield. The red tip is paint, not wax.
Tracers?

I’m pretty sure the headstamp is from RWS.

Don’t know why they are red though.

The mice have been at the box, but any ideas how old?
I have tried a search online but no luck.


Also came with this, a blast from the past! I remember picking these up empty in the early 80's, for my empty cartridge collection.


The base has split, plastic shrunk with age.

yes tried some many years ago, that's when I realised how dangerous a 22rimmy is.not all Ricochet's go ping as I discovered.

i've not seen any for years , i had some years ago and they worked well but with age the tracer compound seems to fail , maybe it reacts with the lube or something ? anyway they seemed to stop working whereas my 1960's RG tracer seems to still be fine?

Agreed, none to be found here judging by my fruitless search.
By all accounts, I should expect perhaps 1 in 5 to still trace; as they usually degrade with age.
Mine are surmised to be at least 20 years old, possibly more.
Still there are 55 of them, so should see something!

My first professional keeper job the headkeeper used to buy these in for us. Mid 1980's,came in boxes like a briefcase, handle on the top. Used to cycle my Franchi Hunter auto really well

It’s just normal Green Rottweil Special, what’s past about them, they have looked like that as long I remember, just like the black ones haven’t changed design for at least 70 years.

I had forgotten about the briefcase style boxes that they came in. Our clay club used to buy them in such boxes.
Interesting to hear that you didn't have any issues with them in your Franchi hunter, I didn't have any problems with them in my Winchester 1200 either, yet they were allegedly discontinued because they didn't go down well in the U.S. because of functioning problems due to ejectors overriding case rims in the land where the pump or semi-auto is more the norm than a break action..
