impact marks inside Stalon mod

It amazes me how people worry and faff about heavy copper bullets, they must be safe to use because their permitted to sell them!

Longer bullet just means less powder meaning not so quick and in my opinion less is more!

I mentioned the other day, bloke bet me £100 I couldn’t get 150gn barnes ttsx to stabilise
In My 18” 7x57 😂😂

Easy money!

are you winding up as usual or are you serious?

anyone with a passing interest in ballistics knows that bullet length is important in relation to rifling twist , copper is lighter than lead ergo copper will be longer for the same weight shape and calibre being the same , it's why some 243 rifles will shoot 100gr flat base round nose but not ballistic tip boat tailed slippery match bullets of the same weight.

velocity has an effect as well

How odd! 162 gns copper bullets must be very long indeed - might they be tumbling - do you know your .308’s twist? What are the holes like in a paper target? When you say internal threads what do you mean?
Any pics available of marks and target holes plz?

My first thoughts exactly.
Cancel the above comment. Just read the next 2 pages. Doh!

Yes Ian Hodge has been very good to deal with.
Just waiting for variation in post according to Devon and Cornwall firearms who have been really helpful and speedy with this latest variation for faulty mod, approx. 3 week turnaround which is brilliant.

OP hopefully you get sorted, poor show from Stalon. Have a Victor myself so will be checking now.

Any recommends on the “light oil (not wd40)” chaps?

300 shots is hardly "high shot count". In fact I would go so far as to say it would be considered "low shot count".
Very disappointing 🙁

I tend to swap my stalon every time I re barrel, easily get 2-3000 rounds through it. You do need to take them apart to air after use and keep the threads greased but it’s well worth it for the performance they offer. Iv seen them rot out in 2-300 rounds but always due to poor maintenance

Julian, did you get the variation sorted in that timeframe I'm waiting on a variation posted just over a month ago now, had no contact from them but after a email I have found out it's waiting to be assigned 🫠

Yes ,D+C were brilliant, pity royal mail were not.
My new cert got lost in post back to me so D+C Firearms dept had to cancel my FAC and issue me with a whole new one which they did quickly and then contacted me so I could drive to Exeter and collect in person to avoid any more delays.
Cannot fault D+C For speed and service.

Great to hear such positive news, Fingers crossed it won't be too much longer I have run out of ammunition now so praying things will get sorted out soon 🤞
