In hot water, ticks?

I posted a very informative post on the Hunting life years ago about ticks
I’ll see if I can find it once the Guinness runs out in Alnwick rugby club

Basically don’t use anything but an O’tom

You upset the tick, it evacuates into the dog

It won't make it let go. Hot enough to kill will probably burn you or the dog. Twist off with OTom to be certain although a thumb nail can be effective. Leaving the mouthpart in is no worse then a fine splinter and if it removes the tick the day it attaches, it's better than waiting until you can buy a tool

Again ....
Its an action thst has a high likely hood of you making the tick regurgitate back i to ypu and increase chance of infection.... temperatures irrelevant.....dont do it...
The current advice is a tick tool remover or tweezers or even your finger nails. ..and get the whole tick including head if possible... its relatively quick and not hard to have few sets dotted about in car in toilet bag ..in bathroom etc

Don’t shock the tick into regurgitating its stomach content into your / the dog’s bloodstream. Which you will if you use cigarettes / flame / Vaseline or hot water.

Go for one of the specialist tick removal tools. I’ve found the credit card (with a cutaway) type pretty useless. The best are the little pronged forks. I think mine is an O’Tom as others have said above. Got one for me and one for the dogs.

I'm a big fan of the tick cards you can get cheap on Amazon.

You can also fashion a makeshift one out of a plastic water bottle or similar bit of thin stuff plastic but they only cost a few quid

Find it easier to line up the tick than the otom type

I have one in the back of my phone one in my wallet and half a dozen in the car

Coincidentally, on the EFAW+F course I did this week they suggested making something similar out of an old credit card or similar:
