Ineos Grenadier halts production

"Available in left hand drive only", and "All our 70 Series are made in Japan" even though Japan uses right hand drive like us, so aimed at the market in the Colonies. ;)
They look like Saudi spec, especially LHD. Considering Australia is the biggest market for 79s, and use RHD, there are plenty out there. Not sure it would be worth importing them though. I’m surprised you can import and register them, I wouldn’t have thought they meet emissions and safety standards for new UK vehicles

I've seen two grenadiers on shoots, not sure of the spec level, but everything about them looked cheap, certainly didn't look to be worth the price tag, the cab looked even more cramped than the defender, which I didn't think was possible

there is way more room than an old defender and it's more comfortable

and lets be fair , it's aimed at the old shape defender and that wasn't dripping with quality materials at all , i was lent a brand new one while my disco was in being repaired (again!) under warranty and the hinges on the bonnet were rusting already

the grenadier is massive inside compared to my other 4x4s. especially the boot.

Old thread I thought this new youtube might interest some potential buyers.
Note the Ineos worker has to carry the "Recaro?" seat into the cab the others factories use back saving machinery.
Why the doors and bonnet (hood) are bolted on tight before primer paint dip bothers me how is the metal there being protected? I saw that on Lada Niva first, normal in car factories is the doors are held on stand off frames so all surfaces get the paint and final coats are all matching, then they get bolted up onto the body.

Interesting video, lots of manual work compared to the "big boys" but that's not saying it's a bad thing ? Still not buying one ever.
As for the bonnet and doors being bolted on before paint , it might be they are either galvanised already or in the case of the bonnet , aluminium?
My son has a new defender and methinks I would have that before this. Would just disable the stop/start and change the oil every year to save the timing chain.
