Daughters bitch was set upon by two 'bull breeds/ Staffies' as she walked her dog in the street. They snatched her whippet out of her hands even though she held her above her head. Daughters screaming alerted people that ran in and helped. Dogs were seized and owners found. Owners according to her now that she knows are akin to the people you have over in the UK that move around a lot. There will be no money from them for the bill that is now at $3500 AUD and the bitch is staying again and may need more surgery. ****s!

Yep, if you have a small field, you can earn a few quid out of it if you fence it.
Our village green is 10 acres and a nice walk from the front door, but every week there is an instance of a dog scrap, people come from far and wide to walk it for free... we avoid it completely now.

and for people/road ragers a can of Mr Muscle oven cleaner...nothing like a big dose of MM in a ****s face.

A couple of my neighbours have rescue "long dogs", an enormous ancient arthritic lurcher, and a greyhound......both have been attacked by free-running bull terrier types.
I'll pass on the tip about Mr Muscle...

Bloody things need destroying. We have am absolute idiot here who's trying to set up a rescue kennels for them following the recent changes to the law. She's repeatedly failed inspections, has unsuitable premises, and even has a couple of these damn things that nobody can handle. There are very few animals I actively want extinct, but this breed is top of my (very short) list.

I truly hope your daughters wee dog makes a full recovery.

I had this last year John.
Hunting my cocker through a long belt of pines after roost shooting, and a bloody great ex track greyhound appeared from nowhere (actually local traveller camp) and ran my bitch from one end of the wood to the other... I dropped everything and ran as hard as I could... thinking this is going to be the end for my little bitch, bastard dog was dragging her about by her back leg trying to shake her when I got there... my dog has recovered ok, no vet needed thankfully, everything seemed to be in slow motion... at least it shouldn't happen again

Thats really horrible and my sympathies.....however, as a lifetime ( Over 40 years owning) bullbreed owner, (currently have an American bulldog and an English Staffy), I would ask that you perhaps direct your understandable anger at the owners rather than the dogs. I was drawn to the thread title and it's a real shame when lowlife scum give these breeds such a bad name by being such irresponsible owners. I would NEVER let my dogs run loose and they are beautifully natured affectionate dogs given the benefit of a stable and loving home and upbringing. I hope your daughters dog recovers and is not too traumatised by the attack. Scum like that dont deserve to be allowed to own animals and perhaps, not to be able to breed either!

Yes.
I ran a line of my own English BT/Greyhound/Staghounds,some threw rough coats some smooth but they all had the BT stop at nothing attitude and all were very well under control.

That is an absolutely terrible situation. My sympathies for your daughter and Bella. Dogs are resilient and in time she will heal. I'd go after the owner boots and all...I wonder....if your daughter took the owner of the attacking dog to VCAT they should issue an order for the payment of the vet bills. If they are as you suggest and have no money and can't pay then VCAT can issue an order to have the Sheriff seize goods to sell and give the money to your daughter.

An off lead Staffy attacked my previous Cav Spaniel and he suffered crush injuries to his lower body because I had put him up over my shoulder in a vain attempt to protect him. The Staff repeatedly jumped and bit him. The owner refused to identify herself and walked off.
