Hi there,
My names Jason and at the ripe old age of 47 just discovered deer stalking having moved to Perthshire, Scotland.

Done my DSC1 with BASC in Dunkeld this year (2025) and looking for opportunities for guided stalks to learn more and any book recommendations on deer or rifle shooting.

Look forward to learning more from this community.

Cheers

Hi Jason, ticking along ok. Got my FAC application in shortly after the DSC1 completed and applied for a 308 per Chris’s recommendation. FEO felt that was too much for the Borders which is where I mainly shoot so amended to a 6.5 creedmoor and a 223. I was happy not to argue and now have the 6.5 on order but being a lefty not likely to arrive before September. I also added the shotgun ticket at the same time and have recently bought a browning o/u and started popping clays. Finding it hard to get time to go fishing! How’re you settling into Perthshire? Been after salmon or stalking yet?

Welcome from Perthshire - send me a PM if you are looking to get out stalking locally. Happy to take you out for a stalk or two (F.O.C) to assist.

Based Scone, manage ground across Perthshire and central Scotland.

Cheers, Tom

That’s fantastically generous. Hope Jason gets in touch

Tom,
That’s exceptionally generous and I’d welcome the opportunity (and I’m sure Toby would) to help out (I do not currently hold a FAC), or simply accompany to observe and gain experience on the stalk or lend a hand where needed.
I’ll drop you a PM
Cheers
Jason.
