Introducing SavingE-collarsInScotland

Hi all, i am here because a post about e-collars came up in a search. I have only shot deer with a borrowed rifle with a guide when I used to shoot birds (SGC) and vermin (FAC) now I only have an Air Rifle Certificate (Scotland) but remain interested in all country sport matters. Quarry these days are rabbits, which the dogs help with pointing setting up and retrieves, and rats, crows and pigeon. Dog training is my thing but not as a professional as it has been for over 50 years.

Who are Saving e-collars Scotland ?

There’s no ban on the horizon up here

Welcome to the site
Thank you. Sorry, not being funny not using a personal name. This particular writer lives near Lochmaben in Dumfries and Galloway. Saving E-collars in Scotland is the id of a facebook group that aims to defend the right of dog owners to use e-collars appropriately for training and managing dogs through publishing information and countering misinformation and educating the public about e-collars. We also make our arguments to the Scottish government ministers and officials and MSPs and directly to various organisations who campaign against e-collars. The names of individuals are not used because of the vilification from campaigners trying to get e-collars banned and PETRA cultists and the like. The information provided should not depend on or be judged on the basis of who provides it.
We agree that there is no immediate threat of a ban in Scotland. There is a committment from government to conduct further consultation about e-collar use but no details have been announced and not likely before the elections. Following the consultation in 2015/16 the Scottish government issued guidance in 2018 which whist it implies the government does not favour use of e-collars it recognises that they can be useful and does not create a legal ban.
