Introduction from new joiner

Hello Everyone

This is my introduction email, having just joined. I live in Wiltshire and have been stalking for 25+ years. I also have dangerous game experience in Africa. These days I stalk several times a year in the UK and take one overseas trip in Europe. I have had a lot of rifles over the years (changing them far too often for no great reason) but ultimately I prefer classic makes and established calibres. I prefer wood to plastic. I have had rifles made by Westley Richards, Rigby, Gibbs, Oscar Schiller, Reimer Johannsen and J Roberts. My favourite 'off the shelf' maker is Schultz and Larsen. The best calibres for me have proved to be .275 Rigby (also known as 7X57) for the UK and 375 H&H for big game overseas. I am currently on the lookout for an old Rigby 275, if anyone should have one gathering dust at the back of the cabinet.

Best Wishes to you all

Simon

Welcome from North Yorkshire.

The only Rigby .275 item that l have is a old scope from a square bridge model, unfortunately the rifle it belongs to now resides in Canada.

Welcome!
There was an old Rigby 275 on one of the stands at the game fair, just shoved in along with a small bunch of other 2nd hand rifles for sale, screened from view by about a thousand shotguns. Not screw cut and still with its open sights. Price tag around £2,950 if I remember correctly. I rather liked it.
You would have thought that with Jim Corbett's 275 on display on the Rigby stand the other seller might have made a bit more effort to promote the one they were selling, but unfortunately rifles are very much the "poor relation" at that event.

Thank you. Yes, I did have a close look at that one. It was marked down at £2,900 for the show. I have it down as a maybe although I want to see if I can flush anything else out.
