I am a hunter from Portugal. I exclusively hunt driven game and on stands during the summer time. I create this account because i recently bought a Parker-Hale in .270win and need some help with it.

I think it has 2 problems. One is the bolt hitting the magazine ramp (fixed magazine) and the other is the safety being too stiff when the bolt is cocked, stiff both when engaging and disengaging the safety.

These problems started when i disassembled it for a deep clean. I suspect that upon cleaning the very old bedding started to give up.

With regard to the bolt hitting the ramp, could it be that at some point the magazine mechanism has been disassembled, then reassembled with the spring the wrong way around, resulting in the ramp sitting nose down/tail up?

With regard to the safety catch, make sure your pushing the bolt handle fully down when closing the bolt. On one of mine, unless I am very firm on closing the bolt, the safety catch won't function properly.
