Is every one ready

It has been decided by the chaps at the table that lev2 will not be needed .BASC BDS SGC SNH FCS and others have sat down decided Lev 1 Will be the required lev. I am sure David from Basc can confirm this as can the other society spokes men. 2014 it will get reviewed and implemented . If enough have sat it then it will stay as it is and will be run by the private sector .If in there opinion there is not enough on the register they will then take over. No one has stated the amount needed but i think that we have enough already the gov do not need the expense of setting up laws and mandatory testing and all the HS that goes with it..

First timer, Just to clarify, Level 2 is not a requirement to get yourself on the F&C register here in Scotland.. I am on the register and have not completed my Level 2 yet.

The requirement to get on it is two level 2 referee's OR as you rightly say to hold L2 yourself.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I woulod like to clarify something here.

When I contacted SNH to go on the FaC register I was told that because I had undertaken both my Level 1 and 2 sometime back, that they would not accept it  BUT, I had to get two references to them plus photocopies of both my 1 and 2.

I am now on the register, but it appears there are a great many mixed messages being put out.

So what exactly is the plan then!!

As a major lease holder in Scotland I am keen to know the exact answer, if indeed there is one.

If you have attained your level 2 within the last 5 years you can apply to go on the F&C register, if you attained your level 2 more than 5 years ago then you will need 2 referee's, holders of level 1 also need 2 referees. It's all on the SNH website I do believe.

At last years Lowland Deer Network Seminar in Peebles, the representatives from SNH indicated that the minimum qualification they would be looking for is Level 2

As I recall, at that conference the SNH reps were very careful NOT to indicate what qualification they would require.

Its done deal its Lev 1 or equivalent ;)No more hinting the standard is set all i am asking is every one ready.

Lev 1 or equivalent? What exactly will this be a requirement for? To be on the FaC register or to stalk in Scotland? Is it really a done deal? Do you have any hard evedence to back your claims up? or is this just pub talk? Sorry to ask but there is no wonder people (and me) are getting confused with the type of claim you opened the thread with.

Thanks. M

No it will be the requirment to stalk in Scotland, if you don't have it then you will be required to be accompanied by
someone who does meet the requirment.

At this moment in time not sure if there will be any provision for grandfather rights.

What's the definitive source that the system mentioned above is going ahead?

Not a loaded question, just want to ensure up to speed.

Davie- as requested who has confirmed this? As the intention is to have a Register of stalkers (akin to the current one) if it is to be Level 1 then unless they have 2 Level 2 referees they will not get onto the SNH Register unless SNH propose to reduce their entry requirements making a bit of a mockery of the current system.

BASC BDS SNH and other on the standards committee the required standard will be set at LEV but it will be up to the private and public landowners to set there required standard,s eg SNH might want higher to get on there register (Access to out of season night shoot or general licence) and i know FC will. But if you shoot in Scotland and have your own ground then Lev1 will be what is needed.

Would compulsory DSC1 be such a bad thing? Deer stalking is the fastest growing area in shooting sports, land will be riddled with stalkers soon - and there were times many years ago when you could even drive without a licence, I bet there was uproar then about compulsory testing...:stir:
