Is Rifle Shooter UK's Best New Shooting Magazine?

I wasn't aware of these. Has anyone bought one?
Not yet but it appears to have modeled itself on "Pursuit International" who in turn borrowed heavily from "Waterlog" in terms of applied sensitivity and feel. I'm sure others will follow:

Modern Stalker is proud to present Volume One:
"Deer Management Without Qualification"
Our first installment explores the nuanced and complex relationship we as humans have with wildlife and the internet, as well as the circumstances in which we’re required to help restore balance for species at risk of disappearing, or reduce numbers for others that threaten to change ecosystems forever. Many of the topics that we discuss are hotly debated, such as DMQ and the impact Brexit will have on UK wildlife and migrations from a down-sized EU. Our goal is to deepen the understanding of the interconnected themes of conservation, habitat protection, land use, invasive and introduced species, and ethical harvest for a holistic illustration of what it means to be a steward of a natural world without input from BASC or Wild Justice.

I have volumes one and two of Modern Huntsman and it is a superb publication. It’s very expensive, 30 quid per copy I think but they have been birthday and Christmas presents from family members. It is quite conservation focused and more inclined to the American market but if you are interested in that side of things then it is bloody good. It’s probably a bit artsy for my taste and the tone of it is quite hipster but a very good coffee table book and also good for swaying those who would be less inclined to hunting presented in a more traditional format.

Ordinarily I would agree with you - I've grown tired of the usual suspects with more advertising than content; and then the content you get is more often than not thin and benign copy. When I've bought Rifle Shooter it's been ok but still a time filler (as mentioned above) offering little more than its purchased intention.

However (and I've been meaning to post something for a while and this thread has reminded me whilst I have a minute) about six months ago I stumbled across a new hunting quarterly bookazine, whilst looking for some Scandi decorating books for the wives birthday. It's called Pursuit International - Pursuit International | Ethical Hunting | Sustainable Living

Whilst it won't be everyones cup of tea I know that there are quite a number on here of discerning readers that would appreciate it. At £12 it's not cheap but cheaper than the equivalent 12 copies of the shooting times and no adverts!! 130 pages of hunting, shooting, fishing - solid, well written articles and stories from contributors all over the world and beautiful photography. It is an 'ethical' magazine (field-to-forkish) so there isn't much camo or huge bags pictured but it does write to what a growing number of us know to be the sustainable face of shooting for the future.

I have no ties to them but really like their content - nice to have something to keep for a change rather than put out in the recycling the same day! There is also an opportunity for those who are minded to become contributors and share their stories and photography. This is the kind of stuff that would even interest those that don't shoot and certainly help to inform decision rather than 'anti-ise' them.

So I received mine a week or so ago. Thanks for the heads up. Refreshingly this is what a natural outdoors publication should be about. It covers many bases without the age old regurgitation of the same old crap.

I agree, not cheap as such but neglible when you consider I now must save up for a Taimen trip to Mongolia :)

Anyway, tis a good read. I enjoyed them.
