Is the rut over?

Showed no interest in the call this morning......




This doe was kind enough to stand in the only ray of sunlight.



I also thought she looked nice in black & white.

Down wind of a doe in the height of the rut I'd not expect a buck to blink at the sound of a call, or a small explosion for that matter lol.

The end of the rut can prove one of the most productive times for calling IME, providing other stalkers haven't 'educated' them to the call (which is a pain in the ***)

Older bucks have been ignoring the call for about a week now, young ones steaming in.

There may have been a doe in the field with the buck - I’ve seen them there before - but I couldn’t see one this morning, albeit the grass is long.

The doe in the photo was actually two full fields away.

As this is a nature reserve I’m not sure anyone has been educating them to the call, although there are always the neighbouring farms to consider.
