Is the rut over?

Down wind of a doe in the height of the rut I'd not expect a buck to blink at the sound of a call, or a small explosion for that matter lol.

The end of the rut can prove one of the most productive times for calling IME, providing other stalkers haven't 'educated' them to the call (which is a pain in the ***)

"Is it over " In my area I don't think it ever started !! All the Bucks are hiding and the only one I have seen paid more attention to the birds singing than a call :-|

There may have been a doe in the field with the buck - I’ve seen them there before - but I couldn’t see one this morning, albeit the grass is long.

The doe in the photo was actually two full fields away.

As this is a nature reserve I’m not sure anyone has been educating them to the call, although there are always the neighbouring farms to consider.
