It takes a lot to make me angry - however….

What state of mind was he in when he drove into the other car attempting to kill himself ? This we will never know, he now has to live with his actions for the rest of his life. Hopefully you will never suffer a episode of depression when the only thought you have is to kill yourself. We all know that suicide is a selfish action, due to the repercussions for the family’s involved, but this is the last thing on the mind of a seriously depressed person. Hence the manslaugter charge.

Nah, f*ck him.

He chose to do it, it was on the A5 bridge over the Ceiriog river, he could have just jumped.

I saw the report and thought the sentence was too lenient. Pity the judge didn't sentence him to at least 20 yrs.

For these two urchins I would require nothing more than 30ft of 1" Hemp rope and a drop in the order of up to 10 ft dependant on weight. If the one who killed the pregnant lady prefers it I'm quite happy to use the methods his compatriots use.

The end statement from the judge says it all
If they're from the BBC report in the OP then those remarks were made by the family solicitor not the judge.
Manchester Crown Court, Adil Iqbal top of the list for consideration yesterday.

Selecting 'Court Sentencing Guidelines' on the page shows the maximum sentence for the offence at Level A.
A plea of guilty entered at first stage avoids a trial. so earns a discount of a third.
The judge did his best, but the tariffs are set by Parliament.

The fact that the tw at driving the car was so full of himself, that he was filming the events shows the lack of intelligence. The fact that he was given 12 years is a miracle in the first place as we see too many idiots getting a slap on the wrist rather than a lengthy sentence. The usual problem is the lack of evidence - which was provided by the moronic miscreant in this case - and so the guilty party can usually come up with any number of "excuses" , usually "sorry mate I didn't see you" or "the sun was in my eyes" or "he came out of nowhere".
The whole sentencing system in this country needs reviewing, only when these morons realise they're going to prison for a long time will they get the message.
