Italian Firearms Permit

I have a trip planned to Italy at the beginning of October. I have my hunting invitation that I need to present to the Italian Consulate to get a Temporary Firearms Permit but I cannot get a response to any emails or calls to the London Consulate.

The Manchester Consulate refuses to deal with me as I’m in the South of England or transfer my calls etc.

Any help gratefully received please 🙏

Dazzler my understanding may be totally incorrect but isn't it the function of a consulate to assist it's own citizens visiting this country?
Should it be the Italian embassy that you need to be contacting?

Yes it is unfortunately

My family are Italian and it is a general understanding through the whole Italian community that the London office is vary bad at responding, it usually comes down to who you know. I have heard of people trying for months just to speak to someone in London.

With regards to passport renewals my parents often go to the consulate in Peterborough even though they live in Bucks, but I'm not sure if they 'know someone who knows someone' there, but maybe worth a try.

If it is any consolation I had some paperwork to do in Italy (one piece of paper to be stamped) and it involved 5 offices and four hours (if you didn't include lunch). The stamp was done at the first office I visited in the morning!! I would say the 'relaxed' approach is embedded within the culture and is normal and accepted if that is all you have ever known!

Good luck, T
