I spied this young buck as he came into the field, but rather than continuing towards me he decided to head through the longer grass. Keeping an eye on him I could see he was going to come back up the other side of the field, so I stalked along the field edge with the two spaniels and intercepted him as he came towards me.

He didn't seem phased at all, eventually passing through the hedgerow and into the next field, where he grazed for a while before bedding down.

Once he gets a bit older he's likely to become more cautious!

Yes, he kept having a look to check what I was up to, but with the two spaniels tucked in behind me he didn't seem in any unnecessary haste to move away.
