Kalixteknik CR1 adjustable cheek rest anyone?

Fitted CR1 to both a Sako 75 and 85 and own an X-Bolt with a factory fitted one (can’t be bad). Highly recommended, quality made and easy to fit. You will not regret i!

Got a new boxed CR1 here for a Tikka T3.Sold the gun now so its not going to be used any time soon.PM me if you want info
Bite his hand off………

I regularly switch between dayscope/night scope and I’ve got them on a Blaser R93 and fitted one to my Tikka 595 although they don't do a specific kit for that.

Just dropping them to the stock makes bolt removal dead easy…. I’ve also got an AIM cheekpiece slip over on a Mcmillan stock and whilst it works, it’s not as good as the Kalix. Luckily it’s on a Sako A1 with a short bolt so I don’t have to faff about taking the AIM off.

When you fit it….it’s worth just dotting through the template drill points with a pointed soldering iron to avoid the drill bit wandering…..stick a small drill through first and work up. 😉. I did the second one in a milling machine to set it up dead vertical/horizontal but Kalix also do a jig which a dealer/riflesmith near you might well have?

cheers

I found that temporary cheek risers could be a pain when trying to remove the bolt? purpose fitted no worries.

BC.
And this is where the trick comes in fitting the CR1. On my first attempt on an 85 I blithely followed the OEM instructions and positioned the template on the stock profile as indicated, resulting in me having to drop the riser to remove the bolt. I got around this by adjusting the sloping profile on the front of the riser (I doubt many would notice without doing a side by side comparison). On my 75, I fitted it to the rear of where indicated so the bolt can be removed without dropping the riser. It’s the same on my factory-fitted X-Bolt. Both provide the right cheek weld for me so no issues. There’s an old saying: “check twice, cut once” and a little experimentation/examination before you drill those first holes is essential!

just to jump on this thread - i am looking to find the kydex/velcro type cheek risers - they seem to be a good quick and relatively cheap fix? where are they sold?

Not sure if you seen the post I put up on the first page of the thread but it’s for Bearproof cheek riser similar type to the Kydex might be of interest to you ? Im sure I’ve seen Kydex on FleaBay .

Really good. I had one, the only downside was that the ends do catch on straps and eventually the pillar and cheekpiece parted company- but that was heavy usage.

Hia FBW...

Can you tell me which CR1 you bought for the Tikka M595 stock? I am looking to fit one on my 695...
thanks!
I actually bought a Sako kit… didn't really matter which as I only wanted to cut up one of the spacers to get the right angle on the clamping block against the internal rib….which doesn’t run parallel to the comb.

My 595 stock had a brace place across the back which came out with a bit of help without breaking it to be glued back in later……then I hoiked out the expanding foam fill, flattened off the underside of the rib as best I could with a chisel and a file, then worked out the angles with a pair of rulers taking the comb line as the base and working off that for the thickness of the spacer to keep the clamp parallel to the comb.

I cut the spacer leaving a lip at the end to hook onto the block and simply cable-tied it in place as the mounting screw down through the stock holds it all tight.

I did post on it with photos at the time….. if I get a chance later, I’ll have a look.

cheers
