Kassnar Scopes

Does anyone have any experience of Kassnar scopes?

I got hold of a s/h 6x42 Kassnar Beta3 scope. It seems pretty clear and, interestingly, has a spirit level that you can see when you look through the scope to make sure the rifle's not canted. Don't have a rifle to mount it on at the moment, but wondered if it's worth keeping hold of for future needs.

Made in Japan about the 1980's, back when Japanese scopes were not very good. They seem a bit better now!
Probably the equivalent of a Tasco and therefore not worth much. Strange gimmick though with a bubble level which obviously never caught on.
Might be worth keeping just in case you ever lose your trout priest!

Good idea, although it weighs that much it might be better as a salmon priest

At the time (late 70s/early 80s) it was promoted heavily as a high quality air rifle scope. Price was higher than Tasco. At the time air rifles were all spring piston type and pretty hard on scopes due to the peculiar recoil patterns of spring weapons. If it has survived that then it should be half tidy and handle rimmy/centerfires without issue.

I still have an Optima 4x40 from the same era, still holds zero fine.

This was quite important on air weapons and target rimfire rifles to indicate "cant". Where a very small bull scoring area any "cant", however slight, could cause a lower scoring hit. Some iron sighted target rifles still can be seen with a spirit level device in the base of the foresight for the same reason.
