Gamekeeper Required

This Wildlife Estates accredited estate has a variety of game including red & black grouse, pheasant, red legged and grey partridge as well as mallard, teal, wigeon, snipe and woodcock. We also have red and roe stalking. The sporting is currently focussed on smaller less intensive days, and we currently do about 4 walked up grouse days, 10 walked up mixed low ground day and 5 small driven days annually as well as culling 18 stags, 40 hinds and 15 roe per season.

The estate is well known for its wildlife and natural capital credentials and an important part of the role will be predator control to protect waders and other ground nesting birds alongside game birds, and to work alongside our regenerative low intensity cattle operation.

The role is currently singlehanded plus a trainee with additional seasonal help during the stalking season.

We are looking for someone who can be part of the team that works on the estate and can work collaboratively with other team members to help the estate run smoothly. We also need them to have good interpersonal skills and good rapport with shoot guests and family alike. It is also important that they fully buy into the sustainable, nature friendly way the estate is run, with our sustainable shooting and stalking working alongside regenerative farming, renewables and natural capital.

We would require a current shotgun and rifle licence, clean driving licence, and ideally DSC2, the usual Quad, Muirburn, Trapping, H&S and first aid tickets (although we can arrange training for these)

If this role is of interest please send CV to Sue Smith (sue.smith@rottalestates.com)

Note: I, NicKJ have no association to this estate other than knowing they have done some fantastic work in that ‘middle ground’ headed up by a great laird
