Kelso Deer Fair - April 9 th & 10th 2016 We'll be there!

Hello John

Our website pictures have not been updated as yet as the new stock comes in next week, so if you were to place an order directly through our site you would receive the new design anyway.

Thanks for your interest.

Regards

Rob

I've been using one of the 'early production models' of the compact waist sack roe sacks from Monarch for a year now and have to say that is the usual bombproof manufacture and a very practical design.

Well worth a look.

Best laid plans - sorry so late in the day guys.

We will be there with a range of the usual as listed at the outset - certainly Sauer, Minox & Vortex bino's/ spotting scopes - and with some show only authorised pricing for the optics. Exactly what? We'll find out on uplift of the main stock on Thursday - more than a bit frustrating not being able to fully broadcast in advance. But the ranges should be extensive. Certainly Sauer 101, 202 & 404 - with stock for purchase. ASE & ATEC Mods to suit and as much Sauer 'bits' - mags, mag plates, screws etc as I can extract from them. Apologies to those who kindly took time to specifically ask for things - my sincerely apologies for the ones that I haven't been able to categorically confirm - but we're heading out with the intent to get hold of what we can.

What we do know - cos John has been carefully minding his bad back whilst I've done the lifting into the van - is we'll be there with -

1. Diver Daves magic Water Repel DWR formula. Doing a bit of a rage in the fishing circles. I'll try to do a quick write up elsewhere, but we're not about to tell you it's really good and works if it doesn't - and it does ... if you follow!

2. Z Aim slings and spares in abundance

3. Cleaning gear - Dewey Rods in 17 upto 30 cal plus and jags, nylon brushes, mopes etc etc to suit

4. Maintenance chemicals ( not Johns pills ) Sentry Tuf Glide, Smooth Kote etc, Zero Friction, Butches, Rig, Barricade etc

6. Lanskey 4 Rod Box/ Fold a Vee ( last remaining supply of these )

7. Talley rings and bases - great mounts.

All the usual shelf fillers and advice etc on DSC

In addition we've had several approaches to take along some one off good secondhand gear - not the usual stuff -

1. New Zealand Swanndri ( not chinese ) green Mosgeil in large - BNWT, never worn £125
2. Remington 700 VERY heavy barrel 20" 308. M17x1 thread with T8 moderator. Synthetic stock, floor plate. Stock finished in Cerakote- like coating in o/d. All original Remmy barrel & stock. £675 ono
3. K Bancroft of Spire Hollin, Glossop, custom M98 7x57. Svelt rifle - sweet shooting. Threaded 1/2x28 UNEF - never moderated. Nice wood. Fixed Redfield style bases. ££950 ono
4. Tier One Rem 700 S/A 20 moa weaver rail & 30mm Meduim Tactical Rings £90
5. Complete collection from retiring reloader - bless him - he dropped the gear off this afternoon without warning - aaargh!. I'll be sorting through between now and the fair, but he was 'keen'. A quick look in the first of many ( oh lord so many! ) boxes -

RCBS 4x4 press
Lyman Turret Press
Ohaus Powder Measure & Stand
UNiflow Powder Measure
Lyman Powder Measure
Lyman lubri sizer
Lyman case vibro cleaner and two boxes of extra media
World supply of dies in all sorts - 25-06, 7x57, 308, 6,5 - Lee, Hornady, RCBS, Forster, Redding
Bullets by Speer, Hornady, Sierra etc in various weights & cals - some part boxes, many sealed.
RCBS 505 scales
Target Master Electronic metering Scales
Case trimming gear
More

It'll all be out to inspect etc and priced to reflect - but John doesnt want the strain of watching me lift those flippin heavy presses back in the van...

All allied with Rob & Jess from Monarch.

We'll be departing from here on Wednesday afternoon so will be mostly off em ails/ SD etc from then until next week. We look forward to seeing lots of old faces and a good few new.

See you there.

Andy

Well everyone that is the stand more or less ready for you, for the weekend. Between us and Monarch it has come together good. But of course I might be biased. Between us there is a good varied selection of stock. Adding to what Andy already posted, we have
A full Minor selection of ZA, ZB and ZE scopes .
Also there brilliant Slimline and Mini trail cams.
HD APO Binoculars.

An extensive range of Vortex binos to compare with the Minox,
4 grades of Vortex spotting scopes. Show discount on Viper and razor range.

And of course, new for us and asked for by SD members, rifles for show and sale.
Most models of Sauer rifles, 101, 202, 404, wood and synthetic
202 spare mags and mag bases.

Banter in the hall was jovial as usual. Unfortunately I received no sympathy from that crowd. You will definately find me on the happy pills over the weekend .

Come and say hello to us. You might see something that takes your fancy. Listen to Andy slagging me off. But enjoy it as all part of the floor show.

See you over the weekend. John

How the .... heck.... am I so fat - not stopped for what seems like weeks - and Mike Norris took advantage of my emotional state ( any differences aside, felt a bit of an end of an era for this to be the last show we'd be at snoring in harmony... ) - by scoffing all my choc chip cookies. And getting me to snort the ones I did have out of my nose with his only slightly 'blue' Scritch ( per Ice Age ) puppet show

Thank you to all those that came along and said hello. apologies as per usual to all those who got far less time than was deserved - aside from Bogtrotter ( per his post elsewhere ) :D

The continuing Vortex scope saga frustrates customers as much as it frustrates us. It further frustrating that they are so good I can't just walk away/ let the thing go. It is in that mood I have written to Vortex on our return - it'll either get things moving or I'll be found nailed to a tree with 'V' stamped on my forehead... again!
Bino's and Spotting Scopes we had in abundance and the genuine pleasure at the look of amazement on first time user's faces never dulls.

But the mystery that is 'show retail' carries on with its usual murk. Things we think will be of zero interest fly off the rack and super gear that no one should be without ( no - not flares John ) languishes unloved.

So if I may run a mini survey. I think its cheeky to ask for anyone's time for a commercial purpose, so ( if allowed ) I'll put up a Lanskey Fold A Vee sharpener - posted to a Uk address as a draw prize. If we run it on this thread for 7 days from tonight - then I'll do an impartial draw of names from a hat and award it to the most attractive of you.

To enter, you'll need to have been to the Kelso event this last weekend - simply post with the first three items you can remeber that we had on our stand for sale. IE - Vortex Bino's - good; Andy - not helpful. Not mutually exclusive - so if someone else lists what you remember, then its still fine. If you're sad enough to enter by using what others write and you hadn't been there - just for a chance at a £17 sharpener, you're beyond help!
One go each will be put in the hat. BUT I'll put two tickets in for anyone who additionally lists what they would have thought we would have had, but didnt. Just one or two items - not your christmas list.

Make sense?

Also a thanks to Rob & Jess at Monarch - a real please teaming up. Watch the forum for news about Scone....

Harking back to the start - but in seriousness. Mike and the team aren't always the most cuddly of souls ( and could care less ), but at every show I've known them at, they have without fail been the utter professionals, great fun, helpful above and beyond, superb company and a pleasure to watch in action. I was honestly sad on parting Sunday. Worse, Mike knows that Scritch puppet has left me with life long emotional scars....

Sausage rolls what SAUSAGE ROLLS !

BT - Sausage Rolls per cafe opposite and ( please keep this to yourself and dont tell anyone ) Rob stashed all his high fat snacks on our bit ( everyone just assumed mine ) and so Jess only ever saw him munching grapes, tofu, fresh air, all bran etc etc. Then the minute she was busy he was over at the good stuff... you forgot the Scotch Eggs!

Thanks for the replies thus far - please keep it coming.

It felt strange to empty my loadout bag for what will be the last time, and to throw the ear plugs away!!

Muchly thanking you for the cookies!!... Very nice with a mug of cocoa when I got home.

Regards.

Ratty.
....

There's enough of him to hide anything behind :-D

No doubt I'll be festerin' about next year, but on the wrong side of the stands this time.

All the best chap.

Well the draw proved problematic - no matter how many times I tried, non e of the names picked ( in fact any of them ) met the 'attractive' criteria ( see opening terms and rules ). Tried turning it around to 'just plain ugliest' but the BT sits in a category all his own.... :coat:

So with the draw officially closed, and no sensible way to fudge it, I let Scooby decide - by a paw print the winner is -......

Marrajack!

Once you recover from this life changing event, drop me a note of your name and address by PM and I'll post out the fold a vee to you.

Genuine thanks all for the feedback. I am surprised no one mention our stock of 'Barry' - who spent more time propping up the counter than John did! :D And following his note amongst others - my apologies, I've still to get chance to sort through the remaining boxes of reloading gear. I know it sounds a lazy cop out, but John's back isnt up to it and we've returned from Kelso into a full round of outings and a series of quite full DSC1 courses. I won't make false promises by putting a timescale on it, but will do what I can and will PM back those with specific enquiries before doing anything else with the gear.

Thanks again

Andy

As per PM
first thing I have won in a draw like this - can live with the unattractive label !!
will promise it a good home with my unrealistic hoard of knives it will be well employed

great meeting you at Kelso and all the best with your business in the future
