Kidney stones

Bah! Amateurs!
Younger members and those of a nervous disposition should look away now or hide behind their mummy’s apron.
Let me introduce you to Sharon ( get it? Defo not as pretty as the other one of the same name - younger readers - ask their dad) my 14mm (last time it was measured) friend who I am told is deeply embedded enough not to bother me. Really?? It could however possibly explain why I lean slightly to the left. Also that kidney is displastic (look it up) with a narrowed exit so Sharon will no doubt let me know if ever the sawbones’ advice turns out to be wrong. Two surgeons helpfully suggested a double-hander, one to “deliver” Sharon and the other to repair the kidney, hopefully he didn’t mean the damage occasioned by Sharon’s birth. Lord, how I laughed!
As I am asymptomatic and have been since it was discovered 15 years ago just guess which choice I made - conditional on receiving annual scans which involve injections of a radioactive trace element 2 hrs beforehand. Good news is I am not allowed to have children sit on my knee for 48 hours afterwards - the main reason I had to give up the priesthood……
Forget all those noxious potions and snake oil ideas chaps - a good malt, applied liberally has been my go-to since forever. Here’s to Sharons everywhere. Bless.

PS
I lied about giving up the priesthood but I really do miss the Boy Scouts!

I have one at the minute. Constant back ache for 5 months, now moving round to my front. Eventually got in for a scan , when I rang for the results the receptionist said the doc has got them and will ring you in 3 weeks ! He has now referred me to urology so waiting again.
I feel your pain, but on the scheme of things they must be pretty mild.

I was hospitalised for 3 of my episodes, doubled over and vomiting with the pain. Morphine is a wonderful drug!

When I was in hospital with a stone a nurse told me she’d had 3 natural births and one stone she said she’d have the 3 births again if there was a choice instead of 1 stone worst pain I’ve ever experienced and I’ve had 3 ops

1st diagnosis wonky hip= back pain, 2nd diagnosis after severe' back pain= muscle spasm,3rd diagnosis after a work mate saw my wonky stance and asked why was I standing like that? short discussion I mentioned dark urine, KIDNEY STONE! Boy was my practitioner p*^^+^ off when I was being examined again' and with a junior doctor in the room, I said, "kidney stone" (duck sound comes to mind)
All this, would you believe, took over 2 years. I was on pain killers that some one had O/D on. I had constipation with them. You can imagine how pleasant that was.
Finally passed a stone that was composed like a piece of swarf (sharp edge, hence the excruciating pain in the kidney as it worked its way out! I have it in a specimen bottle.

BC.

Fortunately never had one but two mates have. One an 18stone 6'4" ex para went down like a sack of spuds in front of me, I thought he was dying. The other a mere 5'10" Keeper and a real hard character just wanted to curl up and die, that's how badly it was affecting him. He couldn't believe it when told the cause of his pain. I've had all sorts of breaks, wounds and afflictions, but from what I've seen I'll take them all again in preference to a KS.

My Kidney stone experience was during the football play where Beckham back heeled someone, Welding job down at Mayday hospital Croydon, we had been given the empty nurses accomodation blocks to stay in, that gave me a maximum staggering distance of about sixty yards to A & E, Seems I collapsed and was then writhing around on the gurney so much most of my working gear came off, in the end a consultant took pity on me & filled me up with morphine.

Horrific pain you have my sympathy, as others have said thank god for morphine.

Mine ended up being blasted ‘from the inside’ after three trips to the hospital & two operations, the first being to remove my appendix which they initially thought was the problem. How I laughed.

Having spent three days peeing the fragments out, which I imagine is like trying to pi55 hedgehogs backwards, the only indignity left was having a camera with a claw attached shoved ‘down the middle’ to fish out the stent fitted into my bladder. The doctor pulled this out like he was trying to start a chainsaw but took me questioning his parentage at full volume very well.

All in all would not recommend.

I a rather obnoctius foreman a few years ago suffering from stones found him doubled over one day in pain dont know who was crying the most him or me

Jeez I had suspected Kidney stones when truck driving ,felt really ill had my son with me and 3.00am was as ill as one could be , we were in Chatham dock and my son was trying t get help and no one would, so I crawled to the security lodge in hell of a mess and they called a ambulance spent 9 days in Medway hospital my guvnor was miffed he had to come and take my son home and come back to collect the truck, they never did find the stone but the pain dropped me on the floor, best thing was on a mixed ward so had some fun once the painkillers kicked in.
