It's been whet now, taken a nice edge! I might just have to do a gralloch with it before Phil gets his grubby mitts on it! :D

Followed this thread with great interest.

Well worth the wait to see a wonderful meld of engineering skills to produce a true work of art!

Glad it's going down well folks.

Done something I've not tried before and tried to take a pic of the edge:

I'm sure there's a better way, I'll have a tinker with the camera later on. :british:

Superb knife. Very well done.

Thanks for sharing the build in a thread. I've really enjoyed reading it.

Cheers,

Bob

Thats a work of art simmo! Is that for your mate in Norfolk?

A friend of mine and Tims mate, Phil. Don't know if you've met him? He doesn't get down our way much. One of the old park culling crew. You'll have to come over for a fondle. :norty:

Had Tusker over today playing in the workshop. He's ground out a nice little blade for Africa, and we managed to stick it in the forge for a heat treat. Took a wicked edge, hopefully it'll keep it with use, time and a few bits of plains game skinning later will tell! :D

Seeing the progress through this post, it was only ever going to turn out as a beautiful blade and it hasn't disappointed!

im sure it's recipient will appreciate it and all the work that's gone into it... Now I've just got to wait another 27 years for someone to get me one!

Hi Digger, just to say many thanks for your time and use of your kit. I learned allot yesterday. Busy polishing said blade ready for the yew scales. See you after Africa with Warthog tusks.:-D

If I started now, it might just be ready in time! :D

No worries at all mate, look forward to hearing the stories when you get back! Bon voyage! :tiphat:

Be a long time before I can start another one, need more practice and need to finish another couple that I've got laying around.

I do however know the perfect man to undertake such a task!

The Stalking Directory

Infinitely better/faster at doing it than me, and a trade member as well to boot. :tiphat:

Not keen as he appears to be going through a rather unattractive ‘piercings’ stage that runs a close second to my dislike of tattoos!

That's an entirely different kettle of fish though. They're a staple model of his range, not customs. If you ask, you shall receive whatever you want. ;)

Having said that though, I don't think even Stu could build a working Lightsaber yet. He really needs to pull his finger out on that. :D

Stu's flared tubes started life on this knife:

The Secare.

The tubes proved instantly popular with many, so he experimented with some older models. They also proved popular, so have become a standard feature.
