Kuiu Yukon Jacket - anyone got one?

I have the chugach jacket and pants and have hunted with them for more than 5 years. It is the best light breathable setup ive used. Fairly durable and hunted in some tough terrain with it. I bought a gray colour so i use it around town as well. Will dry very quickly too. Expensive but you get what you pay for and being dry after spending hours in the rain hunting and not overheating is important to me.

Yukon would be too heavy for me. Chugach is right weight to pull out of my pack and wear over my pelton jacket. Anymore and id overheat.

I have the Yukon,
It turns the rain well. It’s light weight and is meant to be the outer of the layering system.
the hood is excellent too.

Hugh thinks the Yukon is too heavy and Grant that it's a nice light weight jacket. Presume that's because Hugh's in Australia and Grant in North Yorkshire.

Any other thoughts? Particularly interested in how quiet the fabric is.

I have the Yukon, got it about 4 years ago, I like it, I don't know how people could think its too heavy????? I've always considered it a very lightweight coat.
The streach in it is great, it's waterproof, very breathable but, I can't get a wash in or spray on waterproof treatment to stick to it, I do think it wets out much quicker than any other coat I have.
I'd get another but I do wish they'd make the Yukon and Chugach in a block olive colour.

Thanks for the feedback.

Do you consider the fabric quiet?

The Yukon jacket is Kuiu’s “quietest” rain jacket, but it’s far from quiet. It doesn’t have a brushed finish. Great jacket other than that. The rustling reminds me to stalk slower

Sitka’s Thunderhead jacket has a brushed finish if you’re after quieter jacket. I haven’t seen one in the flesh though. It doesn’t have pit zips though like the Yukon.

Jax you make 2 very valid points, if you have to wear a water proof jacket then it's probably raining (sorry for stating the obvious!) so the rain might mask some noise you create a little, and if the deer hear you 'rustling' then you are stalking to quickly!

Pit zips I think are important, it reduces the heat you generate.

KUIU is only available online, but at least the site has the option of buying as you would in the UK, and all taxes are paid for, but it's pretty expensive kit.

Cheers

Richard

The Yukon does have a brushed finish, it's not "moleskin" but it's not brushed.
It is a quiet coat, I've had mine for about 4 years and can testify to its quietness in areas from commercial forestry to Heather moorland.
