Labrador - lame front shoulder

Hi all
Our old girl, aged 11, is very bad lame from her front rhs shoulder. Our Vet has prescribed Loxicom for some months now and we are also giving her a joint supplement called Healthspan but she really is still noticeably lame. She is a much-loved working dog (retired) and family pet and we would dearly love to make things easier for her. Has anyone had any experience with Yumove and what was the outcome or indeed anyone any other suggestions, please?
Much obliged.

Get her into a vet with hydro therapy. My parents dog (sheepdog) had a similar issue and this was an absolute game changer in his recovery. Not sure on the cost of treatment but it did work. He was a lot younger than your dog though and took to it really well. Might be worth a look.
Hope it gets sorted out for her/you. 👍

My lab is on yumove for working dogs she’s 10 years old and still a working dog, when she does a hard days work on the shoot she is still stiff and needs a nip of loxicom but on a day to day basis with some dummy work and general exercise she’ll keep up with my other younger labs, they’ll need to be on them for a few weeks or more until they are in their system but I personally think after the hard work she’s done in the past she’d be much stiffer without them.

The lameness may be more of a mechanical lameness than just pain and inflammation. By this I mean that the arthritis is bad enough to prevent the joints moving properly, especaiy if it is the elbow rather than the shoulder.
Swimming is great for maintaining muscle strength
Supplements - very little evidence any of these work, they do no harm, so it's up to you. She may benefit form other medicaiton on top of the loxicom - ask your vet

Anything, like Yumove, derived from New Zealand Green-Lipped Mussel seems to work. I take Musselflex tablets every day.
