Anyone using a ladder trap, if so any tips, ive a farmer friend whos interested in using one.
Hes having huge numbers of corvids coming onto his maze clamp, ive shot hundreds with an air rifle ,
shotgun to close to the milking parlour and live stock, so next step a Ladder trap. so advice would be good as ive never used one.
Cheers

I made and used one with great success some years ago and quickly learned from a few mistakes,

Don’t go near it during daylight, Corvids can spot movement from miles away, best empty the trap by dull torchlight and empty it every night or Charlie will soon be digging his way in.

Hang ‘curtains’ of chicken wire 2ft or so, from the edges of the ladder as surprisingly some birds can take off like a jump jet but not without wings being outstretched, some can ‘walk’ upsidedown and through the ladder hence the curtains.

Include half a white sliced loaf with whatever bait you choose (Maize cobs are good) , also and this may seem bizarre put some water in the trap as most Corvids are active/caught early morning and will be in there all day.....

Move the trap to the other end of the farm when catching drops off and remember the first tip, most important to stay away during daylight hours!

Good luck hope this helps

As said, bread is one of the best baits, along the ladder and in the trap. Move it every three days or so for fresh interest.
