LandRover dealership visit

Very smart but a hefty amount of dosh too.
I used to have a series III, tax exempt, never let me down.
It was very useful for "re-positioning" those dirty great communal bins in some Edinburgh streets :)

£13k for a car that has had 22 owners...! You have got to be kidding surely..!
I must admit it is clean and looks nice but £13 grand...! Come on..!

I love the write up -

"pulls very pleasingly" - Whats pleasing about it ? The fact it actually pulls ?
"Gearbox is smooth with no jumping out and overdrive makes this car a real daily runaround." - Is this a Land Rover selling point ?
" this Landrover looks better than new" - Surely not that hard to achieve ?
And my favourite - "
Even the spot welds are all present" - No comment...! :D

Meh, don't like landrover myself due to my past experiences, but I notice a similar attitude with lots of this sort of vehicle. Bloke used to have an old mini at my 6th form. Loved it to bits and would hear no wrong of it. Got very angry when people mocked it 'It's a true british classic! Rally pedigree! It has so much more character than your boring modern hatchbacks!' Yes mate, it does, it looks amazing and must be great fun to drive, but who had to jump start the thing this morning 'cus it was a touch chilly, and who is going to be spending their evening covered in oil fixing the alternator and head lights again whilst we all go to the pub? He has a skoda now. Apparently it just wasn't reliable enough when he had a job to get to or be fired...

All cars have their faults
Take my 2007 Hilux for example
70,000 miles and I've already had to replace the exhaust box section, 2 x windscreen wiper blades and in this weather I'm for ever under the bonnet, if only they had put the window washer bottle somewhere more accessible :-)
Wingy

Legions of LR fanboys got a semi on then until they read it all and saw the irony...........

I do work for JLR, they're flat out and putting more shifts on and opening new tracks :british: How's the Japs doing ?

Land Rover dealers have a special promotion this month…
Buy one, and you get a dog for free!!
Then you don’t have to walk home alone! :-D

Land Rovers are like Marmite. No amount of producing figures, telling tales on how they did this or went wrong there is going to change one person's view a jot on here. You like them or you don't.

I suggest you all take a piece of paper, write "turn over" on both sides, sit in a chair and follow the instructions for half an hour. Do this every time you want to add something to this thread. :)

It is weird though.
Ive had a few, including a S3 that I built myself, and I love them, but I really couldn`t do it again.

A few months ago, I was buying an L200 and the place had a 57 plate 110 county.(5 seat so massive open rear space) Mint, with bugger all miles on it.

I sat in it for 45 minutes with my wife saying "go home, think about it, have a coffee and really think about it" as she knew I would buy it.

I went home, had a think (£500 rfd ! eeek!) and went out and bought the Mitsi. I just couldn`t do it again.

I still want one, but it will have to be a galv chassis 300tdi built to my spec.

But only when I have time to work on them again, as I know fine well they are a hobby vehicle.
My Lambrettas are the same. Under the skin, but you better be handy with a socket set.

well LR have contacted me re my rangey , do you think I should take the file I have from them showing the 10 recoverys plus all the warranty work including a new engine and two gearboxes on my previous discovery 12 years ago? just in case they drag out 'but we've improved' line............

I've been involved in both sides of the argument with Land Rovers

Had a 90 300Ti which never missed a beat in twelve years.Undoubtedly the best off roader and I was only ever stuck once when a plonker mate grounded it

It was a sad day when an extending family forced the sale but the price I got back for it worked out at it costing me about £400 per year which no other make in the market could touch

Then came the 110 County with the Puma engine and all I can say is oh dear  Endless new clutches, transfer boxes and even a new gear box within the first 18 months.Thats as well as the usual LR quirks such as whistling doors, constantly wet footwells and for some reason a knack of destroying prop shafts like they were going out of fashion.Couple this with LR and their dealers in complete denial that theres ever anything wrong despite the forums full of complaining owners and me having to go legal for them to actually put the faults right was enough and it was moved on whilst still under warranty
Moved onto Toyota and couldn't be happier so much so I've just ordered another one.Excellent on road, good enough for the odd times I do now go off road and above all comfortable and reliable
Still look at the 90's on forecourts when driving past though and I'd have another just for pottering around locally if the funds allowed. My wife just shakes her head at the thought

If you are trying for a refund or exchange of course arm yourself with all your proof but forget about previous vehicles as you bought another. Sale of goods act states you must allow for repairs to rectify the problems and it sounds like LR are going to go down that route and they have better lawyers than Joe Public can afford.
