Is there a large fairly distant tidal offshore sandbar that has ferocious currents running around and over it on the East coast. I have the west coast covered with the Bristol Channel but don’t want to transport some of the 100,000 a***holes who complained about the coverage of the death of Prince Philip on television. West coast viewing platforms can be arranged if needed.....

It did make me chuckle that these sad sacks had been "driven" to write to the BBC to complain...... I was just glad to have a day off from the inane drivel about Covid 19/ Brexit/ The horrid Tories/ Holyrood's fiction factory/ Jimmy Krankie / BLM and all the other tripe that offends my delicate sensibilities that usually has pride of place on the BBC. I suppose it never occurred to the protesters to either 1) Switch off or 2) Go outside and have a walk or 3) put down their almond milk latte's and remember if it hadn't been for folk like Prince Philip doing his bit in 1939-45, they wouldn't be enjoying the freedom that they have......... ****s......

He did more for Britain than most of these so called celebrities, or sports people, and saw active service during WW2. These winging idiots have nothing else better to do in my opinion, but to complain about people who are more of a decent human being with integrity and honour than they will ever be.

I absolutely agree he was head, shoulders and several small countries above the other royals, a very interesting man, and deserving of quiet remembrance. Emphasis on the quiet...
But after THREE WHOLE DAYS of altered scheduling, faux sombre presenters and sad music on every channel, I agree that it was too much.
The man himself would almost certainly agree. He was nothing if not intolerant of false displays of emotion. Just imagine the acerbic comment...

I agree with some of what you say but would rather watch tributes and people's recollections of meeting the Duke than some of the programs which were replaced.
Sure. But (1) that doesn’t need to take up the majority of both tv and radio schedules for several days, and (2) if you don’t like what’s normally there, don’t watch/listen to it.

I have to disagree and say the T.V. coverage was excessive.
While I am certainly no royalist, I did like Phil the Greek, for his sense of humour, not always appreciated by some, and his no nonsense approach to speaking as he saw it. Thankfully his legacy continues in Princess Anne. By all means honour the man but for all the main stream T.V. channels to be paying tribute all night and churning out mostly the same old thing is not something that I am sure he would not have appreciated himself. At the end of the day he would possibly have said that he was only a man not a god and I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted all that fuss.

I’ve often wondered what the Royal families gun collection would be like and how they manage the certificate requirements and if it’s the same as anyone else in that they need to show who has access to the cabinets (armoury) etc....
I always imagined they would have Churchill SBS and suck like.

His BSA stalking rifle is in the museum at the Birmingham proof house. I've seen it but can't remember for certain what the chambering was but I believe it was .308win. The story goes that he ordered the CF2 rifle with certain features including an absolutely tiny 2x powered optical rear sight, you can't really call it a scope from BSA. When they completed it they sent him an invoice for £200. He replied by sending them an invoice for £200 for consultation fees. They simply called it quits and never got paid for it.
