Has anybody been using the above?.... and I dont want folk coming on saying "buy altbergs" or whatever... im asking for opinions from actual users of the back islander ones, not the debit version... the one they now advertise.

Thanks

Those are the ones... sympatex lined and not the same as the dedito made ones from before them with windtex lining....

It just seems that users of the older ones had issues with them.... but the "newer"ones have had no reviews or anything!.... so before taking the plunge id like to hear if there are any issues.

I never bought a pair of the "new" ones because of the reviews I got from mates that had them!!! The previous owner of the company maybe didn't have the best costomer service skills either.
I know you didn't want to hear about Alt-Berg but thier Gamekeeper/Gunnerside boot is remarkably similar but, I suspect, much better quality.

Altberg don't make that boot now.... its a different design and almost the same as the original black islander boot!!... same sole... same rand design....

I've heard nothing about the blackislanders with the sympatex ling aka "newer ones"... but lots of bad reports about the original dedito version.... there are many posts on here and other forums.... but they all go on about the dedito ones..

What do you mean Alt-Berg dont make that boot now, I got mine in May this year.

Have a look on their website..... unless they've not updated it .... but the boot in your picture is not there or on any other Google image search....
My mate got a pair of the gunnerside boots last year from altberg in Richmond and they aren't the same as yours... they are the ones on the website....

Yours could be the stark extreme.... but they aren't listed anywhere....

That's what I said in my post, I get a diffirent sole, if you ask them they'll put the High Country boot sole and that rand on.

So yours aren't a standard off the shelf boot.....
I was looking at the standard offering....
So its even a possibility that altberg make the blackislander then.... after all there are similarities and they share the sympatex liner....

How much did yours cost if you don't mind me asking??....

Mine aren't really off the shelf, but when I order them, I'm on my fourth pair now, I ask fot the High Country sole and full rand, the waiting time and price are about the same. The boots come in from Italy ti Alt-Berg without soles and are soled in the factory at Richmond. I dont think Alt-Berg make the Black Islander or diditto as the diditto don't use sympotex.

Actually it looks as though the blackislander ones are still made in Italy as the pic shows what looks like an Italian flag on the tongue.......
The new blackislanders use sympatex.....

Its good that the price of yours is pretty much the same and that Altberg as a boot maker can do a custom boot ....
I might go see them after lockdown as they aren't too far from me.
