My son had his certificates revoked a few years ago due to an unsubstantiated domestic issue with his vindictive ex and has tried unsuccessfully to get them back. He is not a member of any organisation so is considering using an competent lawyer to help him with another application. Does anyone have experience and details of someone suitable who specializes in this area and could assist please.

There is a solicitor from, I think, the Northwest of England, who advertised in the back of "Shooting Times" as a firearms specialist. Also we don't know where your son lives as the situation might be different if he needs a lawyer in Scotland or Northern Ireland.

David.

You have not indicated the Police Force Area in which your son resides, that will be useful. I respectfully suggest that you put some meat on the bones of this matter. This site has lots of very....informative folk on it. and collectively they will point your son the way ahead, me included

David Barnes of Shooting Law might also be worth contacting.
David is a shooting Law specialist. That's what he does. The OP will certainly not be the first person he's helped out with this very issue. Book an appointment with his office and get the ball rolling. These things take time so the sooner you get started the sooner you get things resolved.
David is also a keen shooter in his own right (I shoot with him regularly) so will sympathise with your predicament. A nicer man you couldn't hope to meet.
Good luck!

Thanks for the responses guys it's South Wales area. Although with Covid I would expect location to not be an issue as most can work remotely for advice.

Distance will not be an issue. No one wants people in their office at the moment. Judges have even been sentencing people via the internet of late.

Probably worth working with someone who has a track record of success with the force in question if possible.
