That’s good newshappy for you
However, there is the other issue around what happens to nature, it’s not all about people
I think that we can agree to differ on that but I don't think that the standard of healthcare from my GP surgery, be it good, bad or indifferent, justifies anti-lead projectile legislation. That's a matter of opinion....![]()
With all due respect that's conjecture! The question to ask is would they be dying of lead poisoning if their food source itself hadn't been contaminated by shooting.......
I used to work on a site that was surrounded by country where driven pheasants were "sportingly" shot, and there were many carcasses simply left where they fell for foxes and badgers to eat, and no doubt become ill as a result.

A 10k (put down) bird shoot close to me has been running for 40 years I have been going over there for 50 years shot pigeons on there since the 80's They are a classic picking seed feeding birds same as pheasants, they grow osr borrage linseed all small shot sized seeds. Honestly the only what you might class a sick is the odd partridge/pheasant which flew on with a leg down and was missed by the picking up team. The question to ask is would they be dying of lead poisoning if their food source itself hadn't been contaminated by shooting.......

Your mates had one too many, you tell him not to drive home....Just stop complaining about something which has already happened, suck it up and get on with it!
'No doubt' ?many carcasses simply left where they fell for foxes and badgers to eat, and no doubt become ill as a result.
How many sick or dead foxes and badgers did you observe? The question to ask is would they be dying of lead poisoning if their food source itself hadn't been contaminated by shooting.......

If one of my mates had too much (anything) to drink and was thinking about driving then I'll tell them not to drive, and if they don't listen, take their keys off them.Your mates had one too many, you tell him not to drive home....
Your good advice falls on deaf ears, he gets into his car and runs your dog over, kills it.
Do you just 'suck it up' and move on ?
Weve been complaining about this for 5 years, the shooting orgs have told us to stop complaining (It will only be lead shot for live quarry) and stop using lead, for the sake of biodiversity....
Look at the state of affairs now.
Well you could just go out the next day and buy a new dog, but I can't quite see how your analogy fits into the current debate?Your mates had one too many, you tell him not to drive home....

BASC told us there WASNT a war, they did the whole 'Peace in our time !' thing with the voluntary 'phase out' for lead shot and live quarry. As the saying goes "Don't fight the last war..."

You just need to look at the LAG stuff to observe the enemy within, we've got to fight as individuals on our own two feet on this one, we've been well and truly been stabbed in the back by those whom we've paid by subscription to fight our corner.BASC told us there WASNT a war, they did the whole 'Peace in our time !' thing with the voluntary 'phase out' for lead shot and live quarry.
I said at the time, you are inviting a ban..
I was ridiculed by Conor, there is no 'ban' stop saying its a ban ! Youre misinforming the masses !
A year later, consultations, I said a bans coming, got called an anti shooting troll....
Now we have the looming ban, and we have the pro BASC lobby saying it was 'inevitable'Theres even some saying it might not happen
Just like war was coming in 1939 (before that really) and the Neville Chamberlains saying it wasnt, we had all the warnings that 'The voice' of shooting was selling us out for its own ends in 2020.
The tragedy is, too many people still believe they are the saviour, and will fight for us, they just arent going to do that, and need sacking off.
OK swap dog for wife, or one of your kids, try sucking that one up instead ?Well you could just go out the next day and buy a new dog, but I can't quite see how your analogy fits into the current debate?
I would have been very disappointed in BASC if they had just stubbornly refused to accept that change was necessary and inevitable, and simply carried on banging the same old worn-out drum.OK swap dog for wife, or one of your kids, try sucking that one up instead ?
The analogy is pretty clear, we trusted BASC et al, and they didnt fight one iota against the lead ban, now were told to just suck it up its happening.
You pay for the privilege of this, I wont be.
Ridiculous statement. The death of shooting in the UK won't be through excessive legislation. It'll be through stagnation.
I can't agree that BASC reflects the views of the shooting community as a whole, if change is necessary let it be on our terms, not theirs.I would have been very disappointed in BASC if they had just stubbornly refused to accept that change was necessary and inevitable, and simply carried on banging the same old worn-out drum.
(As so many shooters seem to do).
The death of shooting in the UK won't be through excessive legislation. It'll be through stagnation.
The handgun ban did not result in the end of shooting in the UK.Ridiculous statement.
Did stagnation lead to the handgun ban, or the semi auto centerfire ban ?
Has stagnation lead to the lead ban ?
The lead ban leads directly to banning the ammunition that firearms were designed to use.
The handgun ban did not result in the end of shooting in the UK. but it saw a restriction and a loss of a lot of shooters
The Semi auto centrefire ban did not result in the end of shooting in the UK. but it saw a restriction and a loss of a lot of shooters
The lead ban will not result in the end of shooting in the UK. but it will be another restriction on dubious at best 'science' that will see the reduction of shooters
Lack of role models and people willing to be mentors is what's killing shooting sports, not legislation. nope , increasingly draconian legislation is what's killing shooting
