The Government has announced plans to implement restrictions on the sale and use of lead ammunition in England, Scotland and Wales.

Today’s announcement confirms that the Government plans to introduce legislation to restrict lead ammunition by summer 2026, with a further three-year transition period running until 2029.

BASC response to announcement:

Guardian article with quotes from BASC, CA and others:

Have you got the actual text of the DEFRA release?

I’m looking to see whether they’ve accepted exemptions for small calibre centrefire, rimfire and airgun?

BASC are still lauding the 2020 voluntary phase out, it's time to drop reference to that FAILED initiative.
Although I'd rather continue using lead ammunition, it could be argued that the voluntary phase out hasn't failed. Lead ammunition will be banned from 2029 rather than 2025. I also wonder if BASC was advised back in 2020 that gunowners must be seen to be be voluntarily moving away from lead to prevent legislation at that time.

doubt it, different government different agenda, make no mistake about it this was all about saving commercial game shooting, the shooting organisations had their agenda and you would have a hard job convincing me otherwise.
