Lead ban by Autumn 2023 - Cut and Pasted from Pigeon Watch

Another nail.....
Wonder when they're going to ban football, it's much sporting activity for people's health.

A headline grabber……….hopefully but I’m sure something like this will happen at some stage.
If this is fact then hopefully our shooting organisations might produce something that we can then forward onto our MP’s to highlight our concerns - I say our concerns because I can’t believe any shooter can fully support the banning of lead within the shooting industry.
For me to be outlawed to shoot a pigeon for my own consumption with some good olde lead pellets is nanny state beyond belief. If I wish to consume some venison that’s been floored with a lead projectile, again, my prerogative.
If they wish to protect the general population they‘d be better looking on supermarket shelves and trendy coffee shops - a true source of health limiting products.

You seem slightly behind the curve on this, they can and they will be banging lead for personal consumption. HSE are trying to ban lead for everything, including target shooting.

After watching a television programme on 'our' consumption of highly processed foods, I have no doubt that the threat of lead poisoning to us is very minimal by comparison.
Almost without doubt, processed foods are causing most of the most damaging health issues in the population.

Honestly grimstone, there are thousands of .22 target shooters with no viable alternative to lead yet.
I have no doubt politicians will be stockpiling lead ammo for private use after the ban as they apparently have different rules to the rest of us!

Fingers crossed target into a controlled backstop gets an exemption. If have about 12000 cast and jacketed .357 to shoot through!

The last time this came up I said the same as I'm going to now. When the government pays for all the lead flashings to be change on nearly every house in the country I will stop shooting lead.
who will pay the government?
the argument about flashing is farcical. no body eats dinner off the roof.
water pipes in most of the country will be full of limescale and no problem.
but back to my initial point the government has no money of its own just our money.

If you were in the building trade which you obviously aren't you would realise that lead on the roof of a building gets thinner over the years as the water washes it away and where does it end up in rain water drains which ends up in our drinking water. And in you and me.
Do you know that there is more lead in an acre of land containing potatoes, why potatoes I don't know, that the shooting industries drops in 10 years.
Only areas which hard water produce lime, areas with soft water don't, what coats their lead pipes.

This. Although I'm not a builder, never have been, but this is correct. My parent's house in fact had a huge underground cistern that took its water from roof runoff. It didn't supply the drinking water from that cistern but the water that fed the water supply to the acre of garden and the three greenhouses in the kitchen garden and the taps in the vegetable garden. So that would have been water with lead in it that nourished the vegetables being grown. Many big houses didn't use mains water for the garden. They used roof runoff.
