Leaving - days to go

Read latter part of last paragraph.🤣
Ok - so I’m clear on the logic here: we should actively embrace policies that make us poorer because we’re going to get poorer anyway.

Have I got that right?

If I’ve understood you correctly, it does imply that you believe that everything is pointless anyway, so you might as well give up now.

Somewhat ironic that we likely wouldn’t have defeated Napoleon at Waterloo without ‘European’ help in the form of the Prussians led by Marshal Blücher!
Interesting, heres something concerning firearms that is little known. Brandon Norfolk, Grimes Graves has been mining flint since the stoneage times. It is a black flint, easily worked, soft & produces a fine edge. It was this flint that was used in the Flintlocks at Waterloo. As an aside, it was discovered that the flint could produce a spark in the rain, unlike the french flint. So we could carry on shooting them, while they were just clicking at us. I would say this was the reason we won at Waterloo. Can you imagine 2 lines facing each other 50 yards apart, while the generals played tin soldiers, told to hold the lines, while pieces of bodies were flying through air after being hit by musket balls., & the uniforms even had white crosses on them so they could give the other side something to aim at. The Bloodlust of the insane, something the European Union has prevented.

Poor old Boris is in way over his head with these negotiations, he tried contacting Merkel and Macron by phone yesterday and both requests were firmly rejected. The EU 27 are standing firmly together as one on this and when one considers the attitude of President Biden things are looking fairly grim for Boris's legacy.

No doubt he'll make some speech soon to complain about the nasty EU who won't give into his demands in an attempt to rally the troops but eventually (and it won't take long) he's going to be exposed as someone who was not in the least prepared for the consequences of a No Deal Brexit and a person not to be trusted when agreements are signed. He's going to be remembered as a man lacking in intelligence and integrity on a grand scale.

This has been dragging on for 4 years now and it's been like watching a car crash in slow motion, the end is nigh.
Still as delusional and pathetic as ever! The fact that it's been dragging on for four plus years is almost entirely down to people like you with their collective, self - serving backsides stuck to the benches in the HoC. WE ARE LEAVING! No amount of remainer project fear BS will stop that now because we can see right through the lies. While you are at it, don't try to lecture us about trust when talking about agreements with the EU ... because that really IS a joke.

When you eventually wake up and smell the stench of betrayal, you'll realise the only vindictive party here is the EU.
They have collectively thrown their members countries economies under a bus.
Ireland will suffer particularly, mostly because we wouldn't give them our fish and sovereignty.
You've already given them your sovereignty, now you can give them your fish too.
You'll be a big a success story as Greece before you know it.
Bon chance!

Time will tell, businesses will adapt but until then it will be a challenge. We can't escape that around half our trade is tariff free with the eu. Soon we will see the results of this departure and then we can hope each side accepts reality. Can't be bothered to find out but do tariffs get paid to the treasury via HMRC.

I relish the challenge but can't see it all ending tomorrow.
Well as the butcher requires some Fallow I await my young stalker so we can go and get wet again. Hopefully the deer will be as daft as us.😆

No! The latter part reads " but it's certainly easy to get you going".
End of story.

Not particularly worked up. More fascinated by your logic.

Curious that your answer to my original question about how we will be better off after Jan 1 consisted of a mix of apocalyptic doomcasting and ad hominem attacks on me. Nothing substantive at all.

Speaks volumes, really...

I'm amazed and how many members here are old enough to have fought in two world wars (not to mention those who were front and centre with Napoloean) with all this talk of "we didn't win against the Germans to lose our sovereignty".

Rather than the fact most the members on here are just old enough to have been born in the baby boom and reap all the economic benefits of the post work war boom and globalisation but now seem over the moon to see the country burn for the "benefit" of their children and grand children who are already the first generation to be worse off than their parents but some how this is a good thing because we have it "too easy".

There have been a few posts here with facts and figures about how things are already getting with businesses leaving, prices going up and the issues we will be dealing with. In response to these there doesn't seem to be any facts coming from the staunch leave voters though, just talk of sovereignty, pride, "British grit", "can do attitude" but where is the "we are better off because we will have XYZ and that will mean XYZ for the population."

I am not totally mercenary and appreciate money doesn't make you happy in itself but it does allow me to have a house, and a shed, a garage full of tools, a reliable car, rifles and ammo, occasionally go out for dinner with my wife. All these things make me happy but with wages stalling or likely plummeting and the cost of living only going up money and the economy is a real issue to me.

Can anyone tell me just one single advantage

If you find one, please let me know, 'cos I'm struggling too!
Paying no more £10 billion a year to be told what to do by a bunch of failed career politicians with huge snouts.

No more 'closer integration' into a quasi 4 th reich.

Trade with who we want, worldwide.

Be the masters of our own economic and social future, without being part of 27+ other countries dreams.

No more free movement, where the arseholes of Europe have an automatic right to pole up and jump on our gravy train.

Oh, and cheap fish ! :british:

There ya go , theres 6.

7 because we can lol merry xmas

I enjoy a debate, but arguments based on emotion are pointless, there is one thing I am not clear about in all this.
Can anyone tell me just one single advantage that we have by Leaving the EU, cos I'm struggling here.
I’ve asked this quite a few times the various times this has come up, and never had a concrete answer other than nebulous chest thumping about sovereignty and very poorly informed ranting about immigration.
