Yep, the Sterling was marginally better. The M1 carbine much better with larger mag, but at over 200 wouldn't penetrate anything floppy with good effect.I remember Stens were only any good up to about 35 yards!

Interesting, heres something concerning firearms that is little known. Brandon Norfolk, Grimes Graves has been mining flint since the stoneage times. It is a black flint, easily worked, soft & produces a fine edge. It was this flint that was used in the Flintlocks at Waterloo. As an aside, it was discovered that the flint could produce a spark in the rain, unlike the french flint. So we could carry on shooting them, while they were just clicking at us. I would say this was the reason we won at Waterloo. Can you imagine 2 lines facing each other 50 yards apart, while the generals played tin soldiers, told to hold the lines, while pieces of bodies were flying through air after being hit by musket balls., & the uniforms even had white crosses on them so they could give the other side something to aim at.
