Leica Geovid HD-b problems

Don’t know if anyone can help me, but I’m having a problem with my new (2017 model) pair of Leica Geovid HD-b binoculars. I’ve owned them for approximately 6 weeks and they have been working fine, but whilest out with them the other day I went to range an object by pressing the range finding button and nothing happened. I thought that this was rather strange as the brand new battery they came with was only fitted a few weeks ago and I’ve only used the binoculars a few times. Anyway after testing the battery it did turn out to be flat, but when I replaced it I now have the EU.US logo permanently displayed on the lens. I strongly suspect that while not in use this icon has appeared on the lens and stayed on permanently and flattened the battery. I’ve tried taking the new battery in and out several times and the same thing keeps happening. I’ve also tried pressing and holding the function buttons but nothing happens and the logo is still permanently on the screen. Has anyone else ever come across this or have any suggestions before I contact Leica?
thanks

This is a bit obvious but have you re read the instructions on how to change the settings again and followed them to the letter?

Sounds like it's trying to take you through the setup process again. If you press the function button (without holding it down for three seconds) does it do anything? From the EU/US option being up on the screen, it should cycle through the other main menu options.

What happens if you press the rangefinding button (again, without holding). It should open the sub menu.

Any chance that water, blood, etc. could have got into the buttons?

The buttons are doing nothing at all, click once or hold them down for 3 seconds nothing changes. As soon as the new battery is inserted the eu.us symbol appears without touch any buttons. This should not happen and there’s no way of cycling through the menu or getting it off the screen. 100% no chance of water contamination they have only been used a few times in good weather.

yes re read the instructions and the eu.us symbols should appear after holding the button down for 3 seconds but it’s permanently display when the battery is inserted. The buttons don’t feel as if it’s suck down either.

Agreed - we have the older Leicas and they are bombproof. I wondered if there had been a split in the rubber over the buttons. They definitely need to go back to Leica.
