Leupold CDS stuck

I have a Leupold scope with a CDS elevation turret. I have swapped it on to a new rifle and have found that when I try to set it up, adjusting the elevation is having no affect on the point of impact.

It seems that the the elevation turret is not actually moving the reticule, and that the reticule is stuck. It certainly worked before but has been in a cupboard for 6 months +.

Any ideas before I send it back?

Or get a mate to hold both ends while you smack the erector housing with a phone book (who has one still?)

Can't make it worse if already broken!

For God's sake make sure your mate understands simple instructions. If he miss-reads the above, you could be in for a painful experience....

Silly question but is the CDS in the right place and tight?

does it have a zero stop ? do you need to adjust that .

It does have a zero stop, but this has been released before I adjusted the scope. Turret is clicking normally, just not moving reticule.

Yes, has been released and re tightened many times to allow several full terns of the turret with no change in point of impact.

Yes, this has been suggested to me, along with the usual disparaging comments about Leupolds. I sold my original one after several years of stalkers telling me they were useless.
